DH and I are avid readers and would love your thoughts on this shortlist. So far we have;

Biff
Chip
Kipper

Any other suggestions??

Winnie
Eeyore
Piglet
Tigger

I quite like Heffalump but I think that may be a bit too "out there".

StillWeRise · 17/05/2020 22:35

Pippi

StillWeRise · 17/05/2020 22:36

Lyra

Cinderella if you’re hoping she’ll help around the house or perhaps Bernard if you plan to just ignore the kid (check for monsters before letting him in the garden)

Elmer could work if this is a Rainbow baby

Rumpelstiltskin has a certain ring to it but he could go by John and have fun getting people to guess his real name

5stringtele · 17/05/2020 22:38

I've always liked Polonius.

TheDIsiilusionedAnarchist · 17/05/2020 22:42

Also consider your ambitions for his future.

Young Patrick is clearly destined for the postal service, Sam might be better for a firefighter and perhaps Bob if he’ll be working in the family construction business. Topham may sound a bit odd but paired with a suitable surname (say for example Hart) it might be just the ticket for a railway employee. Who knows he might go all the way to the top with a name like that, perhaps even be knighted.

merryhouse · 17/05/2020 22:43

Jadis
Aravis
Hwin

Rilian
Emeth
Fledge
Puddleglum

Chienloup · 17/05/2020 22:44

Veruca

theseriousmoonlight · 17/05/2020 22:47

Puck if you fancy being fancy and all Shakespeare style literary.

Or Gandalf.

theseriousmoonlight · 17/05/2020 22:49

I also like Elmer as suggested by TheDIsiilusionedAnarchist

I think Cinderella is actually in a baby name book I have. I think it says it hies best with quite mundane surnames. Think about it: Cinderella Jones is better than Cinderella Fortegue-Smyth which just sounds ridiculous.

theseriousmoonlight · 17/05/2020 22:50

*it goes best...

RomaineCalm · 17/05/2020 23:11

"All rise for Judge Moomin"

Yup, that works. Smile

hauntedvagina · 17/05/2020 23:18

Gandalf, now there's a name!!

Cinderella Jones sounds like she'd trot around castles in dainty heels by day, and be a whip-wielding lady bad ass by night. It's a contender.

Dick and Dora would be nice for twins

IsabelleSE19 · 17/05/2020 23:21

Think Hazel might be making a comeback anyway so why not up the ante with Fiver or Bigwig?

Finnemoo · 17/05/2020 23:23

Snufkin for a girl

Noddy or Bigears for a boy

ItsReallyOnlyMe · 17/05/2020 23:24

How about Titty ?
or perhaps Roger, John or Susan ?

EskSmith · 17/05/2020 23:45

I think you need to go earlier in the genre:
P-a-m,
B-o-b,
J-a-n,
B-e-n
would all.work ;)

SerBrienneOfHouseTarth · 17/05/2020 23:57

We're considering Zog, although it's more contemporary literature than classic which puts us off slightly.

JassyRadlett · 18/05/2020 00:29

Debbie and Nicky, for sure. Or if you’re not keen on the classics, something more modern like Rosie and Jim?

subjecttoavailability · 18/05/2020 00:29

Oedipus

Newname4now · 18/05/2020 00:36

Burger Bill
Rannaldini (exotic)
Bod , again not lit, but certainly post modern

Newname4now · 18/05/2020 00:38
  • Burglar but burger as middle name?
AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 18/05/2020 00:40

Biff is definitely short for Barbara.

SnowdropFox · 18/05/2020 02:08

Hungry or Caterpillar.

The first quite descriptive, perhaps they will be a chef or (cherry) pie eating content professional. The second very transformative, conjures up imagined of becoming a beautiful swan in their teens... wait how about

Ugly or Duckling? Duckie as a nn?
