Saffie or Emmie or neither?!

Hi everyone!
I’m a FTM due my little girl in July, currently 29 weeks. For the first few months me and DH couldn’t agree on any names - we both like Evie for a while, but that didn’t last long!

I then suggested Saffie which we both REALLY liked, and decided that was THE name... but last few days I’m having doubts!

I know it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks. But I keep thinking of other people’s opinions, and can’t see anyone liking it very much! What do you think?? Is it a nice name, or am I being silly?!

I love Emmie, but DH not keen at all. Should I try and convince him, stick with Saffie, or give up on both and try something else?! 😂

Middle name will be Rae, as that’s my sisters name 😊 x

I know a lovely Safia.

I don’t mind either, but they are both diminutives / nicknames and I never like nicknames for a child’s christened name, personally. It always sounds twee to me, and like the parents are only imagining the baby as a cute young child, and not as the grown, independent person they will become.

So I would go for Saffron or Emma / Emily / Emmaline as their actual name, and you could use Saffie or Emmie as their nickname.

Exactly this. I have recently heard of a few babies named Billy and/or Bobby and the parents didn't use William or Robert on the birth certs. I think this would at least give the adult Billy or Bobby a choice to switch to a more adult name if he chose to.

I prefer Saffie over Emmie.

I think of the Emmies, the music awards when I hear the name Emmie. It's not a complete name, more a nickname which is fine for a baby but not for a grown woman.
Possible alternatives:
Emily, Emilia, Emmeline, Emiliana

Saffie is a nickname. Emmie is also a nickname

This.
