ve day inspired names?

our baby girl was born yesterday and we’ve decided to call her georgiana. we haven’t decided on a middle name yet though, and we’re considering using a ve day inspired name. especially as our first daughter was born on armistice day and we used poppy as a middle name to commemorate it. but we can’t think of any names! the names we’ve had suggested by family are vera (after vera lynn), winnie (after churchill - which is a definite no), or one of the top baby names of 1945. any other suggestions?

Victoria

Rosemary for remembrance (from Hamlet)

There might be some names of inspiring medical women, land girl leaders, those types of women from WW2? Can't think of any off the top of my head.

NameChange84 · 09/05/2020 17:20

How about Georgiana Victoria (or Vera) Elizabeth? Then you have VE in there
plus “victory” and the Queen’s name?

Congratulations!

MrsJoshNavidi · 09/05/2020 17:21

Vera
Elizabeth
Victoria
Europa

Icantstopvbaking20 · 09/05/2020 17:24

Hope
Serena

NameChange84 · 09/05/2020 17:24

Or Wren after the WRN?

Paperyfish · 09/05/2020 17:31

Evie. Sounds like E V = V E backwards

BrandoraPaithwaite · 09/05/2020 17:32

Wow, is Vera Lynn really the only famous woman who springs to mind from WW2?

Paperyfish · 09/05/2020 17:33

Or peace. Or hope. Or first name Victoria Evelyn

BrandoraPaithwaite · 09/05/2020 17:34

Peace as a name would be a wonderful sentiment.

MrsJoshNavidi · 09/05/2020 17:45

Wow, is Vera Lynn really the only famous woman who springs to mind from WW2?

Yes 😢

Can you give me some other examples?

RyanBergarasTeeth · 09/05/2020 17:46

Vera
Victoria
Elizabeth
Margaret

jfoyo26 · 09/05/2020 17:51

I like Victoria for victory.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 09/05/2020 17:51

Eleanor after Eleanor Roosevelt? She oversaw the drafting of the declaration of human rights which happened largely as a reaction to the atrocities of ww2.

Luckingfovely · 09/05/2020 17:51

Georgina is heavenly! And I love the idea of Victoria Elizabeth as middle names - what a lovely story that would be Smile

sunshineandshowers21 · 09/05/2020 17:54

oh, i like the idea of using a V and an E name. my boyfriend thinks we should just use victory but i’m not sure. i do like victoria though, and it has the bonus of having family links.

Clementine

Downton57 · 09/05/2020 17:57

Georgina Hope, Georgina Grace (after Gracie Fields)

FeedMeSantiago · 09/05/2020 18:03

Georgiana Wren (as suggested by a PP)
Georgiana Vera
Georgiana Victoria
Georgiana Hope

Then there's the names of female spies during WW2:

Georgiana Violette (Szabo)
Georgiana Madeleine (Damerment)
Georgiana Pearl (Witherington)
Georgiana Mary (Herbert)
Georgiana Eileen (Nearne)

You could also have Georgiana Sophie after the incredibly brave Sophie Scholl.

Thefaceofboe · 09/05/2020 18:06

That’s a lovely idea! I would avoid Victoria as it makes the name so long but love Vera, Wren and Hope like suggested above.

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 09/05/2020 18:08

I was going to suggest Sophie after Sophie Scholl but Feed beat me to it :)

TwoKidsStillStanding · 09/05/2020 18:09

Violette for Violette Szabo of the SOE?

Anne for Anne Frank?

passthemustard · 09/05/2020 19:12

Just not Eva .......

berrychakewellplease · 09/05/2020 19:28

Georgiana Liberty

Love some of the other suggestions especially Victoria Elizabeth
