Girls name help. German/British family

Hi I could really use some help finding a name for our daughter. I was so sure she was a boy that I didn't even consider a girls name and I can't convert the one I had chosen (Joshua).

We have only one rule in that both families have to be able to say the name. So any names with a 'th' are out as Germans don't make that sound. Also our too boys have classical biblical names so something that would fit in with that.

The names I had considered were:
Marie
Bonnie
Eleonore (German version of Eleanor)
Annika
Maeve

But to be honest me and my family are completely stumped. I really don't want to come up with a name after she is born as I did that with ds2 and actually regretted it but it's too late to change it now. Please help

I really like Marie and Bonnie. You could also consider Katrina or Yvonne?

Anna? Is that a German name? It us the name of my AngloGerman friend.

Katya?

StillWeRise · 28/04/2020 16:47

Eleonore, Beata will get mispronounced/spelt by Brits
also they will not put an H in Johanna
I'd go for something that sounds very very similar in both languages, like Hanna
Anna
Barbara
not Heidi, it just means the little girl with the goats etc

Annika is nice and not common.
Maeve I think will date quite badly.
Eleonore is pretty but their attractiveness means El names are super popular. This might not bother you of course!
Bonnie, imo, is awful. It's a well-known adjective in Scots and I'd be embarrassed to introduce myself by the name.
Marie is lovely, don't hear it much these days!

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 28/04/2020 16:50

Katharina? It's a classic and easy for Brits to say.
Adriana also transfers easily.

Susanne or Susi

I have an Anna because I am a German teacher. Emma would work well in both languages.
