Dylan....

Currently thinking of names for DS2. Struggling a bit as we used our two favourite boys names for DS1 first and middle names (rookie error!!!).

We do both like Dylan, but I've had mixed feedback about it on a broader names thread, so hoping to get more opinions on it here. What do people think?

I think it can also be spelt Dillon, but that is less popular?

I love that name! I wanted it for my DS but was not to be.

PlantPotting · 01/04/2020 09:02

Love it - gentle yet strong name

Aria20 · 01/04/2020 09:24

I have a 12yo Dylan Smile he likes his name

LotusClover · 01/04/2020 09:25

It's a nice name but fairly common. Dillon is a less popular but still well-recognised way of spelling it :)

Spam88 · 01/04/2020 09:48

I like Dylan :) I am Welsh though. Don't like the spelling Dillon at all.

IceBearRocks · 01/04/2020 09:49

I thought it was a naughty boys name like Tyler !

YakkityYakYakYak · 01/04/2020 09:53

I love the name Dylan. It makes me think of someone artistic/creative (Bob Dylan, Dylan Thomas)

Dillon just looks odd written down to me though.

LargeGinOnTap · 01/04/2020 10:37

I really like Dylan. Dillon not so much

becca3210 · 01/04/2020 10:38

Love Dylan (spelt like that)

Whatsyourflava · 01/04/2020 10:55

Love Dylan ❤️ Perfect name

mangoandraspberries · 01/04/2020 10:59

Ah, more positive than I was expecting!

I'm s teacher and I am headed by my experience of every Dylan I've ever taught. Absolute shits😂😂

usernameusernames · 01/04/2020 11:06

I like it, it's different too

Keepyourginup · 01/04/2020 11:08

Can't you just use the middle name as a first name? If you really like it, I think that's fine....you could have Dylan as his middle name

CaffiSaliMali · 01/04/2020 13:55

Dylan isn't pronounced 'Dillon' though, it's pronounced 'DULL-ann' ('tis Welsh).

I LOVE Dylan
What’s the middle name you love?

Whatsyourflava · 01/04/2020 14:16

@KarenBumPlumber lovely 🙄

Bluesponge · 01/04/2020 15:03

I like Dylan it also ages well

Justgivemesomepeace · 01/04/2020 15:08

I wish I'd gone with Dylan. It's an anagram of my mums name. I don't know why I didn't use it.

WhateverHappenedToBathPearls · 01/04/2020 15:14

I love it - DP vetoed it for DS sadly but it was definitely in my shortlist.

PortaRoast · 01/04/2020 15:18

As CaffiSaliMali says, Dylan is Welsh and is pronounced Dullan with the emphasis on the Dull. It is also shortened to Dull.

I'm first language English so it is not a great name to my ears.

Mama1980 · 01/04/2020 15:19

Sadly it reminds me of several naughty boys I taught.
It's also very common around here, I know at least 6.
So I wouldn't.

DuchessAnnogovia · 01/04/2020 15:24

Love the name Dylan, it's my DHs name. He's Welsh and it's pronounced slightly differently. Instead of Dill-an it's pronounced dull-an

Spam88 · 01/04/2020 15:27

Although dull-an is correct, dill-un is very much an accepted pronunciation amongst first-language English welsh people!
