Dylan....

Currently thinking of names for DS2. Struggling a bit as we used our two favourite boys names for DS1 first and middle names (rookie error!!!).

We do both like Dylan, but I've had mixed feedback about it on a broader names thread, so hoping to get more opinions on it here. What do people think?

I think it can also be spelt Dillon, but that is less popular?

It's been one of my favourites since the 90s. Great choice!

@YakkityYakYakYak this. It’s got some cool connotations. I like!

Brokenchair1 · 01/04/2020 15:32

Two Dylan's in DDs class. Both very naughty so it's a no from me but may depend on area. If you like it go for it. You and your DS are the ones that have to live with it and kids are not at school for ever.

I've already commented elsewhere. Dated, mispronounced and downmarket. Call him Kevin.

Whatsyourflava · 01/04/2020 16:05

Love it

Agree that it’s a bit dated and downmarket.

JaffaCakeGal · 02/04/2020 11:16

Love it, just can't use it myself as doesn't go well with my OH surname Sad

Careradvice2019 · 02/04/2020 11:18

Nope I dont like it . But it's not my kid 🤷‍♀️

sinisterofjustice · 02/04/2020 11:25

I think it's a kind sounding name. It isn't too popular (if you like that).

I would say Dill-an too and I think this is widely accepted by Welsh speaking people too. It's a classic name that won't be misunderstood or mispronounced and would be just as lovely on a little boy as a grown man. I think it's a good choice.

I love it! Was the name for our first daughter if she had been a boy! It’s strong, classic but not dull - and there’s the poet Dylan Thomas too! Please don’t use the Dillon spelling though, just doesn’t seem ‘right’ (sorry)

rayoflightboy · 03/04/2020 00:25

I have a Dylan,hes 25 and its a gorgeous name.

Go for it.

Darbs76 · 05/04/2020 23:17

I have a Dylan - age 15 now, top of the class so he might have changed his teachers opinions. I’m welsh and I wanted a welsh name (live in England now). I don’t really care what others think (borders from common / little sods) but he will be your Dylan and his name won’t reflect his behaviour of what his teachers think of him.
