Sister to Ariadne. Please say what you like/don’t like about them too if you can.

Thank you!

I adore both.

PlantPotting · 29/02/2020 19:53

Honor

Hermione too frilly, too many syllables

Rainallnight · 29/02/2020 19:55

I love Honor. I think it’s classic and classy and I like the shape of it when it’s written down.

I once knew a very cool and impressive Hermione, but I find know that the Harry Potter associations are too overwhelming for me personally

IceColdCat · 29/02/2020 19:55

Honor - goes better with your DD1

Quizeerascal · 29/02/2020 19:57

I like both but feel that Hermione goes better with Ariadne. The spelling of Honor bothers me somehow, I know it's the correct spelling for the name but it somehow doesn't look right

HermioneWeasley · 29/02/2020 19:58

I wouldn’t go either of those with Ariadne. Have you considered Hera if you want an H name, or Artemis, Athena, Danae?

CatteStreet · 29/02/2020 20:01

'Ariadne and Hermione' is a mouthful. I actually like Hermione the better of the two, but I think Honor 'goes' better.

How about Damaris?

CatteStreet · 29/02/2020 20:02

Or go Shakespearean with Hero?

Umberellaellaella · 29/02/2020 20:07

I loved Honor, when I mentioned it to my mum and Stepdad they both burst out laughing and said teenage boys would say say ohh get on her! It put me off.

Bezalelle · 29/02/2020 20:22

Yeah, I'd be careful with Honor depending on your surname.

The actress' name "Honor Blackman" is sort of unfortunate.

TempsPerdu · 29/02/2020 20:48

Love Honor - it was a serious contender for DD but DP wasn’t completely sold. It’s strong but feminine and elegant. Quite different in style from Ariadne but I think they sound fine together.

Hermione’s perfectly nice too but I think there’s too much going on with Ariadne and together they seem a bit themey.

daisypond · 29/02/2020 20:51

Honor. Hermione is too similar to Ariadne -NE ending, Greek myths.

PhantomErik · 29/02/2020 20:54

Really don't like Honor sorry. I think it sounds very harsh.

Hermione's lovely though, strong & feminine.

LoonyLunaLoo · 29/02/2020 21:11

Hermione definitely.

Gogolego · 29/02/2020 21:25

Hermione. Don't like Honor

DramaAlpaca · 29/02/2020 22:12

I like both, so I'm no help Smile

Luzina · 29/02/2020 22:15

I prefer the spelling Honour. Its a 'virtue' name so no reason not to spell it the British way.

I definitely prefer it to Hermione, i know a few Hermiones, but only 1 Honour (she's 39 )

OhTheRoses · 29/02/2020 22:22

Love Honor.

BeroccaFiend · 29/02/2020 22:24

Honour. It has a nice plainness.

Ikeameatballs · 29/02/2020 22:36

Honor.

I much prefer it to Hermione.

Mallory29 · 29/02/2020 22:45

I was worried about Ariadne and Hermione being a bit themey together... interesting that some of you think the same.

I LOVE it though — it’s my favourite name ever but I couldn’t convince DP last time, but he’ll consider it now! 🙄

I do like Honor but yes, worry it’s a bit “plain” compared to Ariadne and don’t want her to think her sister got the prettier name!

We also like names like Paloma, Salome, Ramona, Cosima, Xanthe, Ianthe, Theodora... Feminine but strong. Any more ideas please?

I so love Hermione, especially if her big sister is Ariadne.

Else, if you think Honor is too plain Honorine?

floffel · 29/02/2020 23:01

How about Honoria?

nocoolnamesleft · 29/02/2020 23:07

Hippolyta? Hypatia?

Astronica · 01/03/2020 01:40

Both strong and interesting names. I prefer Hermione and I prefer it with sister Ariadne. They sound lovely as a pair of sisters. While the ne ending is repeated the rest of the names sound different and each have their own personality. Honor sounds too plain next to Ariadne I think.
