A bit bland and nothing-y. Just a series of sounds.

IceColdCat · 29/02/2020 09:11

I love Erin Smile

Lavenderblues · 29/02/2020 10:06

I don't like it. It sounds masculine

knightsinwhitesatin · 29/02/2020 10:24

Really like it. Went for something similar in the end

ojo821 · 29/02/2020 10:29

I don’t really like it- it’s slightly meh.

LeviJeans11 · 29/02/2020 10:32

I really like it!

Pippinsqueak · 29/02/2020 10:34

Love it.

doodleina · 29/02/2020 10:36

Gorgeous!!

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 29/02/2020 10:42

Lovely name, very elegant.

PurBal · 29/02/2020 10:43

I used to love it and discussed it as a name with my ex for if we ever had children. We parted ways and guess what he named his daughter...

BrokenBrit · 29/02/2020 10:44

I love it. Merryn is another similar name I adore as well.

userabcname · 29/02/2020 10:48

Very popular in my area. Not really my cup of tea but if you like it then go for it.

MiniMum97 · 29/02/2020 10:58

I love that name. It was what I was going to call my baby had we had a girl.

Pentium85 · 29/02/2020 11:04

I like it, however it is becoming increasingly common.

I know a friend who chose it because it was ‘unique’

Cue first baby class together where 3 out of 7 babies were called Erin

MonsteraDeliciosa · 29/02/2020 12:30

Seems a bit bland and characterless to me. Or, as a PP would have it, meh.

Lavenderblues · 29/02/2020 13:50

I know a friend who chose it because it was ‘unique'

Was it ever that uncommon though?

PorpentinaScamander · 29/02/2020 14:02

It would have been ds2s name had he been a girl. Smile

MikeUniformMike · 29/02/2020 14:17

Not keen. It is probably a lot more popular than you think.

ParkheadParadise · 29/02/2020 14:20

I like it.

Pentium85 · 29/02/2020 14:58

@Lavenderblues

No it’s always been around, but I’ve noticed a huge spike in the amount of Erins lately

PlantPotting · 29/02/2020 15:13

@Pentium85 @Lavenderblues

Sorry I’m being tired and irritable but when it’s so easy to check the official statistics, why do people make sweeping statements about names “getting more common” when that’s clearly false if you took the time to check.

“Erin” has been on a downward trajectory since 2005 - ie for the past 15 years!! It’s about to leave the top 50 and there was half the number of babies called Erin in 2018 as there was in 2005!! It’s getting increasingly more unusual

I think it’s a lovely name

Pentium85 · 29/02/2020 15:49

@PlantPotting

Sorry, didn’t realise I had to back up my statement with statistics.

But from my experience the amount of children I see come through my school and the amount at baby classes, the name Erin is popping up more and more

Poppydaisies · 29/02/2020 16:45

@PlantPotting

My comment was in response to a poster who knew someone who chose Erin for being 'unique' Hmm

Lavenderblues · 29/02/2020 16:47

I never thought Erin was becoming more common!

PlantPotting · 29/02/2020 16:53

@Pentium85 you don’t have to back everything up with statistics 🤣🙈 I’m so sorry I’m just tired and easily irritated today, like I said. It’s a silly pet hate of mine that people say things as fact like “Erin is becoming increasingly common”, when theres a way to easily check this and it’s clearly incorrect. There’s half the number of baby Erins in 2018 than there was in 2005 and seen as the numbers have declined each and every year there will almost certainly be even less Erin’s in 2019 and 2020 (we just don’t have the official statistics for those years yet). It’s at number 50 in 2018 and will almost certainly be outside the top 70 in 2020 on the basis of the current trajectory.
Sorry for being irritable x
