Think I've narrowed it down to Louie or Ollie after a long 8 months of trying to think of a name! thoughts? Smile

Louie is much nicer!

Omashu · 25/02/2020 17:17

I like Louis the most. Probably because I love Louis Theroux and there’s so many Ollie’s!

Grufallosfriends · 25/02/2020 17:17

Louie. I also prefer this spelling over the French Louis as the latter is often pronounced Lou-is outside of France.

Oliver/Ollie is so so popular and overused imo

Omashu · 25/02/2020 17:18

Just realised you’re spelling it Louie. I don’t like it as much to look at but it’s still nicer then Ollie imo.

Poppydaisies · 25/02/2020 17:20

Louie

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 25/02/2020 18:04

Louie

user1493494961 · 25/02/2020 18:32

Louie spelling reminds me of Donald Duck.

DoctorBambino · 25/02/2020 20:34

Much prefer Louie, the way some people say Ollie really irritates me. Not sure how to describe but the woman from the TV show the Missing said it the way I hate. Shame as it's a nice name Smile

Astronica · 25/02/2020 22:46

I much prefer Louie but think it much better spelt Louis.

Littlebab · 25/02/2020 22:51

@DoctorBambino yes, the missing is what has put me off the name Ollie, although I love Oliver!

TatianaLarina · 25/02/2020 22:57

Louis. Louie is a girl’s name, diminutive of Louise.

Spelling Louis that way indicates that you know people who wouldn’t know how to pronounce Louis.

Poppydaisies · 26/02/2020 09:25

Have a look at the statistics from the government. Louie is most definitely a boys name! In fact more boys were named Louie than Louis last year!

MikeUniformMike · 26/02/2020 09:42

Louis is much better than Louie. Louie looks like you can't spell.

whatareyoucooking · 26/02/2020 09:48

Louis definitely

TatianaLarina · 26/02/2020 11:57

Have a look at the statistics from the government. Louie is most definitely a boys name! In fact more boys were named Louie than Louis last year!

All the government statistics tell you is that there people who either don’t know Louis is pronounced Louie or have to flag it phonetically for their circle.

Louie is basically Louis for people with lower education levels.

MikeUniformMike · 26/02/2020 12:03

Oh Tat! Smile I agree with you

TatianaLarina · 26/02/2020 13:46

Shock Wine

BadCatDirtyCat · 26/02/2020 17:12

I prefer Louie (and don't feel I have to prove how sophisticated my friends are via my baby name choice Wink)

MikeUniformMike · 26/02/2020 17:31

Wouldn't you prefer, you know, a proper Sunday name to go on the BC, just in case he becomes a High Court Judge?

I suggest Lewison, Louis for short or perhaps you could go for something a bit more international with a Scandi theme and go Luissen, nn Louie.

Or, go a bit yoonique and call him Lui or Looee.

MikeUniformMike · 26/02/2020 17:33

Oops, I meant Lewison, Louie for short. That darn' @TatianaLariana encouraging me to have a prosecco moment.

Grufallosfriends · 26/02/2020 18:27

Louis is pronounced Lou-is in Germany. It's quite popular there.

I too prefer Louie in an English speaking environment and I don't need to prove my education level by choosing the French spelling!

The inhabitants of St Louis in Missouri are all very uneducated then, they say Lou-is ShockShock!

TatianaLarina · 26/02/2020 18:35

The German pronunciation is Looees not Lewis.

TatianaLarina · 26/02/2020 18:37

They’re American. Although St Louis and Louisiana were originally the French speaking part of the south (as New Orleans).

JollyGiraffe12 · 26/02/2020 18:38

Louie or better still Louis

Grufallosfriends · 26/02/2020 19:03

No the German pronunciation of Louis is Loo is.

Maybe they say Loo ees in Italian or Spanish?
