Hi, we have our third on the way. Both set on Otis for a boy, but stuck on girls names. I do like Odile a lot, and Orla, but those names haven't stuck with my other half. Recently come across Ophia which sounds beautiful I think though perhaps not so great as part of our sib set. Our kids are Oscar and Ottilie, nick names Ozzy and Ottie. All ideas welcome!!!
Thanks loads

I never understand the whole post objection. Surely mail is adressed to Mr. Firstname Lastname, not to Initial Lastname ? Either way, not a good enough reason to be put off a name you like.

I also don't think Otis/Ottilie sound too similar. Wouldn't make me blink.

Olivette sounds more like a diminutive to me, it's a nickname we sometimes use for my brother Oliver. The -ette ending means "small" so Olivette is basically "little Olive".

Most O names have been suggested already, except maybe Ombeline, which I like the sound of but it is exceedingly rare.

I do like Octavia !
Kind of like Oswina but not sure whether it actually exists.

How is Osiris a girl's name...?

sawyersfishbiscuits · 22/02/2020 22:05

I know a lovely little girl called Orin.

CherryPavlova · 22/02/2020 22:05

Jane?

JoHo8 · 22/02/2020 22:13

Thank you everyone for your brilliant suggestions, helps so much

@sawyersfishbiscuits hadn't heard the name Orin yet and quite like it, will give it some thought, thank you!!

We have two family members with the same first name initial Eg Jack Tom DreemOn and Joe Pete DreemOn. - it’s amazing how often we get post for Mr J DreemOn. - It happens a lot and it’s important stuff too.

It’s not a huge problem but I imagine if you all had the same initial it might be annoying.

wazzalife · 22/02/2020 23:09

I love Orla.
On the point about getting post confused because of their initials, it's highly likely most communication will be via email or other electronic method by the time these children are receiving anything to get confused over! Given the environmental concerns, I think (and hope!) post through the door will become a bit of a rarity. Not meaning to derail :)

Skyejuly · 22/02/2020 23:15

Odette

SageRosemary · 22/02/2020 23:16

Oonagh, you could spell it Una
Orla, Orlaith, Orlagh (never Orlaigh)

Fartlek · 22/02/2020 23:26

My vote is for Opal or Ondine.

SE13Mummy · 22/02/2020 23:27

My first thought was Olive for a girl, especially as it gives a couple of different nicknames that are different from Oscar and Ottilie's e.g. Ollie and Liv/Livvie.

Would Otis have Otie (oat-y) as a nickname? It's possible that Ottilie might go by Tillie when she's older too.

Claphands · 22/02/2020 23:32

Olivienne- fresh twist on Olivia and it's a legitimate name
Opaline - so much prettier than Opal IMO
Odessa
Oriana
Oma
Odetta - so pretty

For boys I do wonder if Otis is too similar to Ottilie.
I like:

Omari - i love this one, it means flourishing, thriving
Odin - love this
Orion- I'm not usually a huge fan but I think this one sounds great with your other kids
Oleander- I'm convinced this would make an amazing boy name but a lot of people think I'm nuts!
Orrick
Oakley

JoHo8 · 23/02/2020 00:18

Ooh Olivienne is beautiful! Oanez great too! Thank you x x

@SE13Mummy thanks for your thoughts! OH may may may be coming around to Olive. However my worry about the name is it takes Oli as a nick name and I wonder if our Ottilie might want that as her nick name as the years go by!!? We started with Tilly as her nick name but it fell hard and fast! Otis' nick name is tricky, I'd naturally go with otto but our friends nabbed that already for a first name! Oooh so tough!!
