Sister for Oscar and Ottilie

Hi, we have our third on the way. Both set on Otis for a boy, but stuck on girls names. I do like Odile a lot, and Orla, but those names haven't stuck with my other half. Recently come across Ophia which sounds beautiful I think though perhaps not so great as part of our sib set. Our kids are Oscar and Ottilie, nick names Ozzy and Ottie. All ideas welcome!!!
Thanks loads

Oriane
Órla, Órlaith, Orla or Orlagh - my own spelling above might be wrong Blush

carbuncleonapigsposterior · 22/02/2020 20:26

Ondine

YouGoTeIIDrDreDat · 22/02/2020 20:27

You already have an Ottilie, d'oh!

TeetotalKoala · 22/02/2020 20:28

I know both an Orla and an Orlaith. Both pronounced the same, just depends which spelling you prefer.

DS2 has two Opal's in his class! He knew one from preschool but as it wasn't a name I'd heard (ex nanny and nursery nurse, I've heard A LOT), I was amazed to see a second pop up in Reception.

I know an Olga, but she goes by a nickname instead.

Odetta (BIG Dark Tower fan here)
Olida
Oriole
Orella

TeetotalKoala · 22/02/2020 20:30

I love Otis and don't think it's too similar to Ottilie. The O pronunciation in Otis is different to both Ottilie and Oscar. More emphasis on the long oh sound.

YouGoTeIIDrDreDat · 22/02/2020 20:32

Orlanda
Oswin Tardis

Okay. Done.
Onya it is Grin

JoHo8 · 22/02/2020 20:34

@JoanieCash totally set on Otis, realise the same otto derived but the 2 names sound different to us and we feel they work well as a sib set

OP posts:
TeetotalKoala · 22/02/2020 20:36

Orchid
Orlanda
Oxana
Orvalia
Orvelle
Oriana

AdriannaP · 22/02/2020 20:38

Orlando for a boy (it’s an Italian name)
Octavia
Love Orla
Orietta (also Italian)

JoHo8 · 22/02/2020 20:38

@teetotalkoala, thanks for suggestions and I agree on otis, how do you pronounce olida?

OP posts:
YouGoTeIIDrDreDat · 22/02/2020 20:38

Prefer Orelia to Oriole as the latter reminds me of areola (the ring around your nipple). Orelia not Orelie because the latter is similar to orally.
That said with Onya I would be tempted to say good onya the whole time Grin

JoHo8 · 22/02/2020 20:39

Good Onya 🤣

Milla Jovovich just had Osian (pronounced Ocean I think)

LisaSimpsonsbff · 22/02/2020 20:41

Do you really, really want a matching set? Have you thought about how it will sound when they're three teenagers and not cute toddlers/babies? I don't think it's likely they'll thank you for it.

TeetotalKoala · 22/02/2020 20:42

Olida - Oh-leader

JoHo8 · 22/02/2020 20:43

@LisaSimpsonsbff yes l def, I am 1 of 4 siblings with the same letter and we love it!

OP posts:
TeetotalKoala · 22/02/2020 20:43

Or more correctly Oh-lee-da (as I realise we might pronounce leader differently)

carbuncleonapigsposterior · 22/02/2020 20:44

JoHo - Ondine a ballet, I believe I heard it pronounced On Dean rather than On Dine.

TheJoxter · 22/02/2020 20:46

My kids both start with ‘O’ too and my list for future (fictional) child is

Orin
Oisín

Oona
Orla
Ophelia

TheJoxter · 22/02/2020 20:47

Oh and I like Osian too

babychange12 · 22/02/2020 20:48

My kids starts with O too and we also struggled with O names for girls

On our list was

Ophelia
Olympia
Odette

carbuncleonapigsposterior · 22/02/2020 20:49

Joho - but the French might pronounce it On den, I guess you could put your own spin on it.

JoHo8 · 22/02/2020 21:14

@TheJoxter and @babychange12 thank you, good to find other families that have approached naming like us 😍
