Do you still love it?

Just that.

Do you still love your childrens names?
Some of my children are much older than others!

DD1 very much a name of its time (think 3 in one class)
DD2 a name as old as time almost that seems to never quite go away
DS The only name I really liked I couldn't have for rhyming reasons so had what I could shorten to it! Tragically born sleeping so never even got to yell it up the stairs at teatime :(
DD3 A name that is always commented on - often with a look of surprise but mostly with a quick warming to it. Rare - Knew one other 25 years ago and never heard another since. But not particularly odd. Only one in a school of 2500

Yes still happy with my names. Absolutely nothing out of the ordinary. DD, classic, DS1 pop star Grin, DS2 my fav name and not from my country but have.ties too and DS3 we couldn't agree so went for DS2s middle name (didn't think we were having anymore) It was agreed to call him NN, everyone but me does. I thought he was a girl and was going to call her Georgia so panic was on when I saw a bit extra on display!

bablo, are you Irish or Scottish or neither? Irish here and didn't use Irish names.

Was Chloe really known 34 years.ago? Alice is a good guess.

Soren is a great name, Senan popular here. Love Zach and Charlie, only know 1 Zach.

Mine are 10 down to 3

Sorry about your son OP and I love this thread

BabloHoney · 18/02/2020 19:08

OrchidJewel I’m English! But have Irish family. Husband is Scottish. I love Irish and Scottish names. Am trying to guess your pop star son name now Grin

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 18/02/2020 19:10

This is so weird. I was going to start an identical thread. My DD definitely is and suits her name, but I wish I'd thought more about it now, though.

Peachypips78 · 18/02/2020 19:11

Thanks Orchid Smile

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 18/02/2020 19:12

This thread is pointless if no ones going to give the names

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 18/02/2020 19:13

@OrchidJewel. I regularly go on a huge quiz site (Sporcle) and I did a one on the top 100 baby girl names 1984 and Chloe was on there. Albeit way down the bottom, but It was still around.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 18/02/2020 19:14

Flowers Sorry for you loss, op. ,x

DramaAlpaca · 18/02/2020 19:18

My boys are in their 20s and I still love their names. I'm not telling you what they are, though!

OrchidJewel · 18/02/2020 19:20

Awwlook, never thought of doing that. Just out really became popular recently here

Sick of hearing Irish names here Bablo. But I do like some. I'm guessing Conor. Hope it's not Ultan Grin

Hopefulmama34 · 18/02/2020 19:26

I still love mine - DD is four. I chose it while still pregnant and a European way of spelling it. It’s a fairly common name but the spelling makes it a little more unique. I also love the combination of the first and second names we chose. I’m pretty sure I will be just as happy with my choice in years to come!

scrivette · 18/02/2020 19:29

My children are all under 10 but I love their names still. I wouldn't change any of them.

DS1's name has recently gone into the top 100, I still like it a lot and it's unusual enough for people to say it's unusual.

DS2's name has rarely been heard, but it has a special meaning to DH and I. I heard it just after DS1 was born and it stuck with me. His middle name is the same as DSS first name.

DD's name is extremely unusual, it's not really a name but a word but I absolutely love it. It's one of my favourite words and goes beautifully with her very popular middle name.

NeverGotMyPuppy · 18/02/2020 19:44

DS - we had a shortlist of 2, one v common one quite unusual (I think there were 50 registered last year). We went for the unusual one, I love it but I do get nervous about people's reactions which is stupid I know.

Susiesue61 · 18/02/2020 19:50

I hate my name! My 3 have very normal, fairly common names. DS1 is 20 and named after his 2 grandads. DD was called something else for 24 hours, she really suits her name now! She's 18.
DS 2 is 14, an old lady told me when he was a few days old that her husband was called the same and he was 'a good man'!!
I still love all 3

myplateisfullenoughthanks · 18/02/2020 19:51

None have mine have been mentioned so far Smile

I love their names, although three are often the 'chav' name threads.
However they'd all have had completely different names if I had picked them without DH and I do sometimes wish I'd have had my choices.

CoodleMoodle · 18/02/2020 20:04

DD is nearly 6 and I still love it. I first heard it at sixth form - it was the name of one of the support staff. She was so lovely and kind and I sort of hoped any DD of mine would turn out the same. I told DH (we met at 6th form) that if we ever had a daughter then I wanted that name, and luckily he agreed. She definitely suits it. It's a flowery "nickname name" which isn't too popular on here but everyone IRL is positive about. I've met a couple her age but never an older one, didn't know any as a child either.

DS is 19mo. DH and then DD chose his name! We were struggling to pick, eventually came up with a name each, and asked DD which she preferred. She went for DH's choice... Which is fine, I liked it enough. It's just him now and I can't imagine him being anything else! His name is the same as someone from Star Wars, although not technically named after him (DH realised that afterwards and was thrilled). I knew two people with his name as a child, don't think I've ever met an adult one.

Still love both middle names, I used to wish we hadn't used them as we could've saved them for future kids. Not planning any more now so it doesn't matter, and I'm glad we used them.

Togepi · 18/02/2020 20:40

I guess Jennifer and Lucy for OP's first two daughters!

myplateisfullenoughthanks · 18/02/2020 20:46

still no,

My DD’s day to day name I love, it’s not everyone’s cup of tea (some woman sniggered at it at soft play the other day not realising I was standing there) but it suits her down to the ground. Don’t love her BC name but it holds a lot of sentimental value. Adore her middle name. DS’s name I love and never bore of saying. Wouldn’t have picked his middle name but again-huge sentimental value. All in all, I think I did a good jobGrinGrin

SilverOtter · 18/02/2020 20:58

Is Gemma one of the OP's daughters names? Or maybe Stacey? Kirsty?

myplateisfullenoughthanks · 18/02/2020 21:03

Nope

motortroll · 18/02/2020 21:07

DD1 13 has my 2 grandmothers middle names as her first and middle names. First name is also the female version of my dads name. Exactly the same word and sound, just one letter difference. I still love it. Only one we know of her age group but a very classic name. Her middle name is also classic but very popular these days.

DD2 11 has a name I chose from a book for her first name. It's unusual but classic (again!) absolutely suits her individuality. Her middle name is one I love but couldn't use as a first name as knew too many naughty ones (teacher problem!) its a very pretty name along the lines of "hope"

DD3 6 has a French first name which can be shortened to a prettier name. Still a classic but unusual name although the shortened version is less unusual. It really suits her. Mainly as she'd hate to be the same as anyone else! I do regret that she's my last and i didn't get to use some of my faves vetoed by dh! Her middle name use unusual and is the season she was born in but is also her uncles middle name and an old family surname!

BabloHoney · 18/02/2020 21:11

orchid yep Conor is correct!! It has mixed reactions if I’m honest but I love it. Is your son Justin?? ☺️

OP I’ll guess Clare and Elizabeth for your daughters?

Anappleaday1 · 18/02/2020 21:27

Sadly I do slightly regret both of my children's names. DH vetoed a lot of my favourites so we were left with a small pool! DD (4) is Lily, it's a name I loved for years before I was pregnant but then didn't think we'd use due to popularity. I was convinced I was having a boy until one day while pregnant felt an overwhelming urge that she was a girl and that she was Lily. I felt we rushed to name her and by the time she was 1 I really was doubting our choice. That feeling has only got stronger, but obviously she is far too old to do anything about it now! She does really suit her name and she likes it, which is all that matters I suppose. I am dreading her starting school next year and being one of many in her class/year. DS has a name I wouldn't have chosen but it has grown on me, I still often think what if he was one of our other choices though. It's a classic name, fairly solid but hard to get excited about iykwim.

Poetryinaction · 18/02/2020 21:28

I love my dc names
DS old as time but getting very popular. French (obvious!).
Dd1 classic and international (obvious!)
Dd2 much less classic so I wasn't sure, but it's so sweet and really suits her. More of a 90s name (she's only 2) but popular in Wales (obvious!).
