Would this stop you using the name?

Due in a few weeks and can't decide about a name I like due to a comment a friend made ages ago when discussing favourite names...

So I love Harry but our surname is the same as the actress Halle.... Would this stop you using the name?

Probably....its a bit of a tongue twister.

BaronessBomburst · 16/02/2020 10:40

Yes. It really doesn't flow well at all.

SpaceDinosaur · 16/02/2020 10:42

What about Hugo?
Harry Berry is a real tongue twister!
Also, Harry's are a dime a dozen if that's of interest to you.

Littlebab · 16/02/2020 10:46

Deep down I know it doesn't work just love the name Harry so needed to hear it from others haha! Was thinking maybe Harrison as an alternative or is that too much? I also like Henry but DH not keen and think that is also really popular.

I have a millions girls names but none for boys!

I wouldn’t use it though it’s a nice name.
I like Henry and it works better with your surname.
Or Freddy?

MamaGee09 · 16/02/2020 10:51

I wouldn’t use it, it’s a tongue twister. Too many r’s.

BecauseReasons · 16/02/2020 10:52

I wouldn't use it, no. Henry?

InsomCho · 16/02/2020 10:55

I like Harrison and think it works fine

wonderrotunda · 16/02/2020 10:55

Maybe something with a crisper sound to contrast with the soft surname?
Jed?
Nathan (Nate)?
Sebastian (Seb)
Samuel (Sam)
Jacob

Mish85 · 16/02/2020 11:10

Harvey or Harold?

Whatsyourflava · 16/02/2020 11:13

I think harry berry sounds cool AF
Or do you mean Harry Halle?

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 16/02/2020 11:16

Harrison works!

glitterbiscuits · 16/02/2020 11:16

If you call him Harrison he end up being called Harry. Harry is lovely but not with your surname.

puds11 · 16/02/2020 11:18

Same as Mary Berry really. Wouldn’t bother me.

BadCatDirtyCat · 16/02/2020 11:20

I don't think it works, sorry, and Harrison would get shortened to Harry anyway.

Jacob Berry
Nathaniel Berry
Samuel Berry

conduitoffortune · 16/02/2020 11:44

I think Harry Berry sounds lovely!

Modestandatinybitsexy · 16/02/2020 12:07

I like Harry Berry. Like someone upthread said it's similar to say as Mary Berry and that's fine to say. It's not too often the full name gets said anyway.

IVflytrap · 16/02/2020 12:14

Harris?

Astronica · 16/02/2020 12:50

Unfortunately I don't think it sounds good. I love Harry too, but I think the way the names sound together is a really important aspect of your decision.

BecauseReasons · 16/02/2020 13:00

I like Harry Berry. Like someone upthread said it's similar to say as Mary Berry and that's fine to say.

The problem is that it sounds too much like Halle Berry, in my opinion. That's not an issue with Mary Berry.

MummySharn · 16/02/2020 13:02

Harrison is a good option, as it would most likely be shortened to Harry but when saying his full name it would flow

ThanosSavedMe · 16/02/2020 13:03

I think it works really really well. Go for it

YakkityYakYakYak · 16/02/2020 13:07

I think you should go with Harry if you like it. Harry Berry sounds perfectly fine to me.

littlejalapeno · 16/02/2020 13:10

In the playground he would be hairy berries...

Bit different from Merry (Mary) Berry

Sorry OP, it’s a no from me. We also had to compromise as our name ends with N so could give DS a name ending in N as it didn’t scan right.

1066vegan · 16/02/2020 13:10

I think that Harry's a great name but agree with those that have said Harry Berry is a bit of a tongue twister. I wonder if kids at school would end up nicknaming him Haribo. I think that the similarity to Halle Berry is neither here nor there.
