I challenge you to suggest a name I've not already thought of...

I'm looking for a one-syllable name as the baby's second name will be long (double barrelled).

Boy's name.

Uncommon / not going to be too many of them either at school or in the media etc.

Names I've ruled out:

Things like:
John, Ben, Dan, Ed, etc (too boring, common amongst older people, 'around')

Things like:
Alfie, Albie, Ted, Wilf, Archie, (too popular)

Things like:
Bear, Fox, Snow, Thor (I kind of like them but they are a bit too much, iyswim)

Looking for a middle ground name. Uncommon, short, strong (not ending in "ie" sound) but not too wacky.

For example my favourite girl's name is Fern. (I quite like nature names).

The only boy's name I like is two syllables (Rohan- though could be shortened to Ro) but DH doesn't like it.

Any ideas for a name which fits the bill?

Soren I think is meant to be pronounced 'Surn' - but I love Soren as in Lawrenson!

Soren sounds like a girls name to me but could be either. And have only ever heard of it with Soren Lorenson from the books Charlie and Lola!

30 - I've made the most suggestions because I've been thinking about it for longer! Also he's being a typical bloke and doesn't really pay attention to other people's kids names / name trends (we don't have many friends with kids yet). So he'll often pick something that's either wildly popular or really boring (in my opinion haha)! Also he has a silly sense of humour where he tricks me into thinking he's serious, and convinces me he loves some name that would sound ridiculous for us, eg Amigo

FWIW DH and I both wrote a list (separately), aiming for about 10 names, then we compared lists, ruled out a lot of the other person's choices but couldn't veto them all, then ended up with a shortlist which included suggestions from each of us. In the end we picked a name which DH had suggested and I wasn't sure about it but it massively grew on me and I love it now.
