I challenge you to suggest a name I've not already thought of...

I'm looking for a one-syllable name as the baby's second name will be long (double barrelled).

Boy's name.

Uncommon / not going to be too many of them either at school or in the media etc.

Names I've ruled out:

Things like:
John, Ben, Dan, Ed, etc (too boring, common amongst older people, 'around')

Things like:
Alfie, Albie, Ted, Wilf, Archie, (too popular)

Things like:
Bear, Fox, Snow, Thor (I kind of like them but they are a bit too much, iyswim)

Looking for a middle ground name. Uncommon, short, strong (not ending in "ie" sound) but not too wacky.

For example my favourite girl's name is Fern. (I quite like nature names).

The only boy's name I like is two syllables (Rohan- though could be shortened to Ro) but DH doesn't like it.

Any ideas for a name which fits the bill?

Ok OP it’s a tricky one but it is best to remind yourself (as someone has already said) that No name is ever perfect.

If you pick Joel for example there’s no way you’ll be thinking about Billy Joel after the first week of holding your son

BigFatBloomers · 17/01/2020 16:16

Chet, like Chet Baker or Gil, like Gil Scott-Heron

NameChange30 · 17/01/2020 16:22

Every name belongs to someone else. Ridiculous not to use the name Joel for example just because of Billy Joel.
If you have a son called Joel, he will be all you think of!
I'm not saying you have to use Joel of course.

Lol! I know what you mean 30!

I can't stand the name Joel by the way! Grin

Haven't RTFT so possibly has been mentioned, and is 2 syllables, but what about Asa?

Aerielview · 17/01/2020 19:25

Just testing @Namesetc.
I think you are going to have to make one up .
Also, when the little one is here you might think he does not look like “ insert one syllable name “ .
Best of luck!

NameChange30 · 17/01/2020 23:05

Interesting that this thread has been pretty popular but ultimately rather pointless since OP doesn't like any of the names (or her husband doesn't!)

Ah well I might steal some of the suggestions for my shortlist if all goes well with current pregnancy and it's a boy!

GameofPhones · 17/01/2020 23:23

Cliff
Rawn (Old English)
