Hello! We are expecting DC2 soon, we don't know the sex. We really loved the name we picked for DS1 who is half Indian/half English as there is a clear nod to his Indian heritage in it.

I've done some research (mainly on Hindu and Sikh names that sound a bit crossover) and these are what I like so far but I'm not bowled over by any of them and DH definitely isn't, ha!

Anyone have any further suggestions, or views on the names below? If so please share! Thanks x

Reena (girl)
Eshan (boy)

I read a book with two girls called Indira and Anahita and thought they were both lovely

CoffeeAndCarbs · 08/01/2020 18:32

I like Kiran for a boy and Asha for a girl x

Ohffs66 · 08/01/2020 18:34

Anusha for a girl?

DramaAlpaca · 08/01/2020 20:58

Tara for a girl? Though it's Irish rather than English.

zeroyogurts · 08/01/2020 21:12

Bodhi or Asha.

cheapskatemum · 08/01/2020 21:20

I was going to suggest Roshan for a boy, having read your thread title and it's on your list.

If you have a girl & call her Avani, everyone will pronounce it "Avarney" in England, rather than Uvni. How about Saira for a girl?

kenandbarbie · 08/01/2020 21:30

You have a lovely selection of names there!

bobisbored · 08/01/2020 21:35

My friends dd is Saiesha which I think is lovely.

yagayagayo · 08/01/2020 21:50

Thanks for the replies so far, some nice suggestions and feedback there.

@TooMinty love Pavan and Eshan (and Eshar) but we have close friends and family that have used them recently

@zeroyogurts those are my top two at the moment too, they are Hindi names but crossover so well. I also love Asha Bhosle lol.

Anara, Nila and Niva were all on my list. Niva was my favourite. They all had nice meanings too but I can't for the life of me remember them... I think Niva was moon

Poorolddaddypig · 09/01/2020 10:43

Niya?

Poorolddaddypig · 09/01/2020 10:44

Rani?

Poorolddaddypig · 09/01/2020 10:45

My husband is Indian and he says he's never heard the name Bodhi used in India, only in the UK?

Poorolddaddypig · 09/01/2020 11:53

Rohan is nice for a boy and sounds quite English. Dillon... hmm... trying to think of DHs friends/family members. What about Mohan? Sura is a nice name but I like it for a girl and it’s actually a boys name.

Laska2Meryls · 09/01/2020 11:56

Meera Sodha's daughter is called Ayra

Lovely name

mastertomsmum · 09/01/2020 11:59

Our friends with similar heritage have Roan and Anita. Quite like both. The former gets lots of correspondence with Rowan or Rohan as the spelling, but people misspell my first name which is a standard spelling but not often seen name. Anita is perhaps not an often seen name these days, but the child likes it.

Lordfrontpaw · 09/01/2020 12:02

Is the surname Indian too?

Flimflamfloogety · 09/01/2020 12:04

Jai for a boy

Nia, Rhea, Nina, Anika for girls

joystir59 · 09/01/2020 12:04

Love Sachin and Anjali!

joystir59 · 09/01/2020 12:05

Anil is also lovely for a boy

SophiaLarsen · 09/01/2020 12:08

I like Jordar and Mischa

How about Neela? That was on our girl list. Or Anita?

jennymac31 · 09/01/2020 12:10

One of my close friends named their son Aydin, which I quite like.

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 09/01/2020 12:13

Krishnan for a boy?

Leila is a good girl's one.
