We would like a longer name but can’t decide so would like some suggestions in case we’ve missed any. Current front runners are Rosalie or Rosanna.

Thanks!

I hadn't heard of Rosalie before this thread but its lovely

zen1 · 06/01/2020 23:03

I think Rosa is nice. Rosalie always reminds me of a Cath Kidston fabric.

MsMcGonagall · 06/01/2020 23:21

Go for Rosie. It is a great name on its own. It is such a pain having a "proper" name that you aren't known by. Rosie is lovely! And these days I think it passes the "professional role" test.

I heard someone call a child rosie today and thought To myself at the time rosalie would be a lovely name.

But after coming on the thread to write rosalie, im loving primrose. Ive taught a primrose before. Lovely girl.

GertiMJN · 06/01/2020 23:43

I like Rose as formal, Rosie informal.

I actually like Rosamund and Rosalind very much but think Rosie isn't an obvious shortening. Ros /Roz fit better / more likely in the future at school etc.

Whatsyourflava · 06/01/2020 23:52

Love Rose

MrsBertBibby · 07/01/2020 05:40

Rosa is beautiful but I don’t really see the point in naming Rosa and using Rosie as a nickname as it’s not shorter or really a ‘natural’ nickname for Rosa. They are both lovely, pretty names in their own right- I don’t think Rosie needs a ‘proper’ name to be nn for.

Serin · 08/01/2020 12:07

Rose

nowaypose · 08/01/2020 13:32

The Rosie’s I have met we’re just Rosie, I didn’t realise it was a diminutive.

goody3shoes · 08/01/2020 14:04

What about the lovely Italian version Rosalia? Used to be very popular in the village where I grew up!

Rose or Rosa.

Roselilly36 · 11/01/2020 13:38

Rosalind or Rosa are pretty names IMHO

RosieE1234 · 19/01/2020 20:19

I’m an adult Rosie and I’ve never had any issues with my name in a professional sense. I do get people automatically shorten it to Rose a lot which really gets on my nerves (Rose sounds old fashioned to me personally). It’s a bit more popular now but I never had anyone at school with the same name- just a lot of people naming their pets Rosie Grin. I do like the name Rosanna as a long version though.

OwlBeThere · 20/01/2020 00:23

My dsd is Rosa. Mostly called Rosie as a little one, but then when my children came along the eldest couldn’t say Rosie and she became Woody Grin. Even At work (she’s a paediatrician) she is known as Dr Woody.
