My SO and I have had a lot of fun with names however baby girl is due in 3 weeks and we are yet to agree on one. We are set on the middle name Belle, a family name. I would love to hear your opinions/what name you like best from our list. Thank you in advance

Rather than Acacia how about Azaria.

Modernhistorybuff · 27/12/2019 16:18

Acacia Belle - nice enough. I've not heard Acacia as a name before but it's quite pretty
Cedar Belle - not keen on Cedar as a name. If anything sounds better for a boy
Evadne Belle - ok. I prefer Ariadne.
Izumi Belle - I know two Izumis who are Japanese. Without that heritage I would say definitely not. With it, I like the name.
Kerensa Belle - I love Kerenza though I slightly prefer the Carenza spelling (I know your way is the traditional Cornish way though)
Pandora Belle - no. Sounds like a naff bracelet
Saffron Belle - nice.
Soleil Belle - not convinced it flows well with the middle name but pretty enough
Wisteria Belle - no. Sounds like a deep South 1900s name.

Kerensa is my favourite from your list

Cornishmum00 · 27/12/2019 16:22

Kerensa is the only one i like

DramaAlpaca · 27/12/2019 16:25

I like Kerensa but the rest are not my style.

FleetwoodMacMummy · 27/12/2019 16:44

Personally the only one I like is Evadne

catlady3 · 27/12/2019 17:31

I think Acacia Belle has a nice ring to it.

Oooooooooooooooooooh · 27/12/2019 19:05

Evadne is beautiful.

17caterpillars1mouse · 27/12/2019 22:01

I really like Evadne. It's beautiful

I also really like Saffron and Pandora

Tillygetsit · 27/12/2019 22:10

Kerensa is beautiful.

Catrescue1971 · 27/12/2019 22:32

When you like a middle name so much I always think you should choose that. I swapped my ds1 name last minute and I'm so glad that I did.

florencewell · 28/12/2019 00:38

any of these names will get your child bullied

OrangeTwirl · 28/12/2019 00:43

Dora Belle. Has a certain ring to it

😂🤣😂 Yes....

turkeyontheplate · 28/12/2019 00:45

Saffron is nice

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 28/12/2019 03:05

I quite like Izumi and Cedar.
The others are awful. What the fresh hell is Wisteria.Xmas Confused

bananahood · 28/12/2019 03:17

Soleil is masculine in French whereas belle is the feminine form of beau so I think Soleil Belle sounds silly.

lizzzzzzie · 28/12/2019 03:57

I did ask for honest opinions and that’s what I’ve received but, I’m stunned at the overwhelmingly negative reaction to the names. I can’t tell if it’s more a case of them being somewhat unusual and thus not people’s cup of tea or if the names are genuinely problematic.

As for my cultural background, I’m a mixed-race Australian. My father is white and my mother is Asian (Japanese). My partner is English and white.

People seem to be confused about Wisteria. It’s a flower, native to Japan. You can google images, it’s quite beautiful.

I like Cedar and Saffron and I'm glad you're not going with the crowd with the Emilia and Florence's! zzz

YahBasic · 28/12/2019 04:03

Izumi is probably the only one that doesn’t sound odd with Belle.

A lot of them are too descriptive ie Cedar Belle and just don’t work.

Are you in Australia or the UK?

Coldhandscoldheart · 28/12/2019 07:22

I think people are expressing confusion about wisteria as it’s not usually used as a name, or at least, not in the UK. It’s a lovely plant certainly, but as someone else has pointed out, unfortunately does have a bit of an association with suburban housing estate road names. As does acacia.

I still think Kerensa is lovely, I had it on my list, but couldn’t convince DH (but then he didn’t like any names at all!).

Rottnest · 28/12/2019 08:12

How about Nigella for a 'botanical' name. I'm so sorry, really don't like the other names.
My apologies

Rottnest · 28/12/2019 08:16

Just noted you have a Japanese heritage,
Izumi Belle would sound very well
Sorry for my previous comment

BarleyG · 28/12/2019 09:52

I’ll reserve judgment on the others but I actually like Wisteria.

I do think it would sound nicer with a short, plain surname such as Jones so that it can shine in its own light, but I think it’s pretty Xmas Smile

Ridiculousanx · 28/12/2019 10:32

It sounds too much like hysteria. But also, the desperate housewives lived in Wisteria Lane.

NameChange30 · 28/12/2019 11:46

Do you speak Japanese, and if so will you be speaking it with your DD?
If so a Japanese name like Izumi would be lovely.
It is tricky though because both parents speak English so that will be the dominant language, especially if you live in England or Australia, and she might get on better with a more Anglophone name or a Japanese one which is more common / popular in those countries.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 28/12/2019 11:52

As others have said, I'd cross Pandora off the list. They are bracelets and not very nice ones at that. Pandora's Box wasn't exactly a fun tale either.

On the plus side I know a Saffron (16) and she's lovely.

Didn't Bananaman live on Acacia Avenue?
