Kessie?

Kessie is a name I’m loving right now. It’s actually from a character from the Winnie the Pooh series. I was wondering what your thoughts were? Is it too diminutive? I just think it’s so cute and could be shortened to Kess for a nickname or to make less “cutesy” for later in life. Thanks!

I actually really like Kestrel as a babygirl name.
How about Hawk or Eagle for siblings?
On a serious note how about Kitty?

Oh God- don’t name a child after the kestrel in Kes! So heartbreaking!
TammyKat · 08/12/2019 12:58
Kessie could be a nice nickname for something
edill799 · 08/12/2019 13:11
I didn’t mean to offend so many people by suggesting it was from Winnie the Pooh. It is, in fact, from Disney’s New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, the television series - which I happen to like. My original post was more to offer an explanation as to where the name came from and less to claim my daughter would be named after a character from Winnie the Pooh. Thanks!

It’s atrocious, sorry.
Scarletoharaseyebrows · 08/12/2019 13:32
Kes as in the metaphor for hopes and dreams that's crushed (strangled) in the book? No. That's not good!
Kessie just sounds made up. But if you like it, go for it.

I went to school with a Keziah and thought the name was gorgeous. She was quite frequently called Kez, but that/Kessie does sound more of a nickname rather than a full name. Even if you never once call her Keziah/other name, it’s nice to give her the option.
northernknickers · 08/12/2019 13:57
Really awful.
MidnightMystery · 08/12/2019 14:00
I knew someone called Kessie as a nick name her full name is Keziah , such a bubbly personality too.
I love the name OP so if you like it go for it.
jackstini · 08/12/2019 14:04
Love Keziah and think Kessie could be a pretty nickname for that
Sorry some posters are being really petty re the WTP reference - like it really matters!
MontanaSkies · 08/12/2019 14:10
I like Keziah. I knew one at school who shortened it to Kizzy, which I thought was so cool. But Kessie could work as a nickname too.
TatianaLarina · 08/12/2019 16:03
Keziah or Kassandra could work. Kezie or Kassie.
FizzyGreenWater · 08/12/2019 16:47
Kerensa is lovely, beautiful old Cornish name and that would shorten to Kessie really nicely. It's lovely, but not as a full name.
If you call her Kestrel she will end up as Kes!

Kestrel is a dreadful name, boy or girl. Kessie sounds made-up (which I suppose it was by Disney).
BatleyTownswomensGuild · 08/12/2019 20:30
It sounds like a dog's name, sorry!
