Kessie?

Kessie is a name I’m loving right now. It’s actually from a character from the Winnie the Pooh series. I was wondering what your thoughts were? Is it too diminutive? I just think it’s so cute and could be shortened to Kess for a nickname or to make less “cutesy” for later in life. Thanks!

I actually really like Kestrel as a babygirl name.

How about Hawk or Eagle for siblings?

Oh God- don’t name a child after the kestrel in Kes! So heartbreaking!

I didn’t mean to offend so many people by suggesting it was from Winnie the Pooh. It is, in fact, from Disney’s New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, the television series - which I happen to like. My original post was more to offer an explanation as to where the name came from and less to claim my daughter would be named after a character from Winnie the Pooh. Thanks!

Kessie just sounds made up. But if you like it, go for it.

I went to school with a Keziah and thought the name was gorgeous. She was quite frequently called Kez, but that/Kessie does sound more of a nickname rather than a full name. Even if you never once call her Keziah/other name, it’s nice to give her the option.

I knew someone called Kessie as a nick name her full name is Keziah , such a bubbly personality too.

I like Keziah. I knew one at school who shortened it to Kizzy, which I thought was so cool. But Kessie could work as a nickname too.

Keziah or Kassandra could work. Kezie or Kassie.

Kerensa is lovely, beautiful old Cornish name and that would shorten to Kessie really nicely. It's lovely, but not as a full name.

Kestrel is a dreadful name, boy or girl. Kessie sounds made-up (which I suppose it was by Disney).

Hi. You posted this many years ago now. I hope you got to use the name. As a kid I LOVED that little bird along with the name. Now as a dad, I have a little 4 year old girl names Kessie. I do call her Kess as well.

Kes is a delightful book inspired from the book .. A Kestrel for A Knave.
The name Kessy reminds me of a Kestrel and of the character in Roots - Kizzy Kinte. I like the name Kizzy more than Kessy.
Kezia and Cassia are also associated names that I prefer over Kessy.

There was a girl at my primary school called Kessie, and always liked that name. She may have been Keziah officially as a Christian name but I wouldn't know as everyone knew her as Kessie. I think its a really nice name.
