I'm with NameChange30 here. Names that were once used only for boys sometimes end up being used for girls too. Guess what, if they become popular girls' names, they stop being used for boys at all so that boys don't get tainted by being thought to be female.
Names that are commonly used for girls never, ever start being used for boys while there are still lots of girls/women with the name.
Calling a girl a traditionally male name does very little to challenge this.
The real change would be if we saw lots of little boys called Margo, Rose, Sophie, Victoria etc.
I won't hold my breath.
nameberry.com/blog/unisex-baby-names-names-that-morphed-from-blue-to-pink This article lists lots of names that have switched from boys to girls in the US, and when it happened.
www.bustle.com/articles/155836-14-baby-names-for-boys-that-are-typically-girl-names This article suggests some names that are currently popular for girls but could be used for boys. Very telling that all the author is doing is pointing out that every single name on the list was originally a boy's name and maybe the trend could be reversed. No suggestion that names that have always been mostly used for girls could start being applied to boys.
