Which boy's name?

BlueRaincoat89 · 30/10/2019 11:01

This is my list of boys names so far. Which do you like? Would love suggestions based on my taste too. Our surname is one syllable so don't think one syllable first names work.

Louis
Billy
Henry
Cian
Caleb
Xavier
Xander
Curtis
Aiden
Ciaran
Hayden
Evan
Roman
Milo

From your list Henry is my favourite

georgia19ox · 30/10/2019 11:09

Louis or Billy i love them both

Spied · 30/10/2019 11:13

Evan and Aiden(spelt Aidan) are by far my favourite.

Spied · 30/10/2019 11:14

Isaac
Owen
Seth
Adam

Bigoldwimp · 30/10/2019 11:18

Ooo Curtis stands out. It’s familiar but not common and quite cool.

Kieran is also nice. Tristan has a similar sound if you’re looking for alternatives.

Lavenderblues · 30/10/2019 11:56

Curtis is nice. How about
Caspar
Quentin
Reuben

BlueRaincoat89 · 30/10/2019 12:33

I only thought of Curtis today, it is quite cool but I'm sure DH will hate it. He says he prefers a more generic name and then comes out with Ulysses Hmm

Louis is by far my favourite, I've always loved it. My best friend's son is called Luca - do you think that's too similar?

Louis is the only one I really like. Henry is OK. So is Aidan, but not spelled Aiden. Ciaran is OK too. Really not liking the rest.

CatteStreet · 30/10/2019 12:37

Xander and Milo in particular will scream 'born in the late 2010s' to later generations in the way Tracey and Darren scream 'born in the late 60s/70s' to us.

ilovemykids5 · 30/10/2019 12:38

I like Billy the best.

StartsAtTheMeadow · 30/10/2019 12:42

Henry, Hayden or Evan.

JaJu14 · 30/10/2019 14:53

Caleb

Curlyeyelash · 30/10/2019 16:36

I second liking Billy the best. I do like Henry also. The thing is, I often think of how the name will translate as an adult male as opposed to a baby/little boy. Billy can always be shortened to Bill which is more masculine/adult. Henry to me is a classic which doesn't need altering.

Here's a few common names that I personally like:
Jack
Oscar
James
Harry
Tom

A few slightly more unusual but still fairly common names:
Theodore
Johan
Ethan
Bodhi
Ezra
Conan

Kcoffecakebubs · 30/10/2019 20:29

Evan, it was on our list. Also like Louis

Yesivenamechanged11 · 30/10/2019 20:36

Henry, Billy, Curtis and Aidan.
What about Thomas, Daniel, Nicholas? Or Alexander, then he can choose whether he wants to be Al/Alex/Xander

Yesivenamechanged11 · 30/10/2019 20:37

Or even Sandy, went to school with an Alexander who was 'Sandy'

FranneKipankinstein · 30/10/2019 20:56

Algernon

Albern · 30/10/2019 20:58

Cian

BarboreJacket · 30/10/2019 20:59

Hayden is horrendous.

Luca is nothing like Louis, unless you are pronouncing "Louis" 'Luca".

Otherwise, a bit meh.

Horatio?

BarboreJacket · 30/10/2019 21:00

Algernon is great, too.

TeddyToaster · 30/10/2019 21:47

@Curlyeyelash Where do you live that means 'Bodhi' is even vaguely common?! WinkGrin

@BlueRaincoat89 (Ale)xander, Evan and Curtis are my faves from that list.

Astronica · 30/10/2019 22:13

Louis, Henry and Milo are my favourites. Louis is not too close to friend's Luca.

MerryHen · 31/10/2019 09:09

Henry is my favourite, DS is Henry though so I am biased 😁

Louis and Billy are my other favourites from your list. We had Alexander on our list but probably would have used 'Al' as a nn. Xander is alright too though.

Ellabella989 · 31/10/2019 09:15

I really like Hayden

BelfastmummyL · 31/10/2019 09:17

William then shorten to Bill Billy or Will. I don't like nicknames as given names but love a name that you can choose to shorten... On not
