What do you think? Is it too male dominated?

I know a female Joey... she's 19. It's a great name. She's really arty if that makes any difference to your opinion

wishing4sun · 24/10/2019 13:04

I love it.

SurpriseSparDay · 24/10/2019 13:04

Wouldn’t it be better to use the full name - Josephine - and then see which diminutive comes most naturally?

greeentopmilk · 24/10/2019 13:04

What about Joely if you're unsure?

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 24/10/2019 13:05

I like it especially as a nick name for Josephine.

justrestinginmybankaccount · 24/10/2019 13:07

Joanne or Joanna often end up Joey. I LOVE it! It’s lovely on a girl.

hairyturkey · 24/10/2019 13:07

Love it!

Windydaysuponus · 24/10/2019 13:08

Jolene nn Joey?

bn02 · 24/10/2019 13:08

I'm not keen on any of the longer versions is the problem (Josephine, Jolene) or anything, so it'd be Joey as a stand alone.

HappyAtWork · 24/10/2019 13:09

I love it

SurpriseSparDay · 24/10/2019 13:17

Sorry, not keen on Joey as a full name. It seems ... attenuated - as if she’s not worthy of a grand, grown up name.

ZuzuMyLittleGingersnap · 24/10/2019 13:29

Takes me right back to Dawson's Creek!

(though I think Katie Holmes's Joey was a Josephine, IIRC).

I like Joey as a standalone for a girl. Sort of quirky.
Or Joely as a full, with Joey as a nn?

MikeUniformMike · 24/10/2019 13:59

Could be short for Joelle, Joanne, Joely, Josephine, Jocasta etc.
It's a bit too nicknamey and she will be assumed to be a boy.
OK as a nn.

Dljlr · 24/10/2019 15:38

I get called Joey as a diminutive of my name and hate it with a passion

bridgetreilly · 24/10/2019 15:40

I wouldn't use it as a full name. It's a baby kangaroo.

BethanyGilbert · 24/10/2019 16:42

I love it.

Slappadabass · 24/10/2019 16:50

I love it, cute for a little one but works for a adult too.

CaptainTurdseye · 24/10/2019 17:18

For us oldies it has a very negative connotation (thanks Blue Peter🙁)

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 24/10/2019 20:28

Awful for a boy girl or even a budgie. I quite like Jo/Joe

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 24/10/2019 20:30

Oh Bridget. I’m broody for baby 🦘 now.
Off to Google and die of cuteness.

percheron67 · 24/10/2019 20:33

Dear God - that is a name often given to a budgie!! Not suitable for a child.

RedRiverHog · 24/10/2019 20:34

I like Joelle. Haven't heard of it before.

I know a Josie who gets called Joey.

HairyToity · 24/10/2019 20:36

I like Josie and Joely. I don't like Joey as a standalone female name though.

june2007 · 24/10/2019 20:39

hink of Joey from friends. Or the guy called joey from American Cake programme. So it,s a no from me.

SlothRunner · 24/10/2019 20:46

I love it. Wouldnt mind being called Joey myself
