Love Rhys!! I'm not sure how previous posters can say these names are for naughty children, I know several Rhys' and 2 Masons and all are lovely- extremely harsh to label a name naughty IMO

Butterfly005 · 21/10/2019 18:31

I prefer Rhys much more

Petrichor11 · 21/10/2019 20:31

Rhys but I’m biased as I live in wales and know several, posters outside Wales May view it differently

user1493494961 · 21/10/2019 20:56

Have you got a third choice?

ItsWitchingTime · 21/10/2019 21:04

I have a Rhys, I'm neither Welsh nor live in Wales and he's not a 'naughty' boy either.

It's a lovely name

Tillygetsit · 21/10/2019 22:44

Oh god the 'naughty boy" chestnut again. Hmm

Astronica · 21/10/2019 23:10

I love Rhys and I'm another who is neither Welsh nor live in Wales. I dislike Mason.

Valkarie · 21/10/2019 23:12

Really love Rhys

MrsNoMopp · 21/10/2019 23:13

I prefer Mason. Not keen on Rhys.

Aprillygirl · 21/10/2019 23:24

Definitely Rhys.

AlliKaneErikson · 23/10/2019 12:53

Rhys. I know of plenty of boys outside Wales called Rhys, with this spelling too.

DogAndCatPerson · 23/10/2019 12:55

Rhys

PetraRabbit · 23/10/2019 13:15

Rhys without a doubt!

Hippywannabe · 23/10/2019 13:22

I have a gorgeous grandson called Mason. He is fab!

MikeUniformMike · 23/10/2019 14:21

Rhys if you're Welsh. Otherwise look for another name.

5LeafClover · 23/10/2019 14:24

Rhys

sue51 · 23/10/2019 14:29

Rhys is a good name. I'm not keen on surnames used as first names so a no to Mason.

elp30 · 23/10/2019 14:29

I have a Rhys for a nephew and Mason for a grandson so I like both names. But I prefer Mason.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 23/10/2019 14:32

Mason is my ds name so obviously I love it.Hes not a naughty boy either!

Powderperfume · 23/10/2019 16:38

Loving all the post telling you you have to be Welsh to name a kid rhys Grin
Didn't realise MN was full of name police.

As someone who IS Welsh I wouldn't ever be offended or upset if someone who isn't Welsh to name their child with a Welsh name. So what?!

Why would any one care?

I'd definitely go with Rhys

daisypond · 23/10/2019 17:21

Rhys, by miles. And you don’t have to be Welsh. And don’t spell it Reece or Reese.

MikeUniformMike · 23/10/2019 17:44

I said if you are Welsh, because the Welsh name is great but I don't like the Reece pronunciation.

If she had asked Rees or Mason, I'd have said Rees.

I think that it's a bit naff to use a name from a different language or culture.

Shoutymomma · 23/10/2019 17:56

Rhys only if Welsh and esp if ginger.
The only Masons I know put me right off.

Frith2013 · 23/10/2019 18:56

Mason is someone who carves stone. Or a type of jar.

So I’d go for Rhys.

Happyhusband · 23/10/2019 18:59

Rhys. Far better than Kaedyn....!
