We've found out we're expecting a third girl (!!) and we are really struggling for a name this time.

I like Constance but DH has vetoed. He wants Mary or Madeleine but I hate both.

Help us please!

Has to be Charlotte.

Elizabeth, Catherine and Sophia were all Empresses of Russia too (well actually Sophia was ruler prior to there being an empire, but she did rule Russia in her own right).

Anna is the missing Russian Empress, which would go nicely too.

Elizabeth, Catherine and Louisa?

Elizabeth, Catherine and Francesca?

I think longer names ending in -a or -ia seem to go best with the others, not that it is essential for the third name to match as such but it does need to sound equally elegant as the others.

I would also avoid names beginning with C or E just because it would be unbalanced to have two with the same syllable and one without (and for the minor annoyance of getting post mixed up if you have two Miss C Carter at the same address).

So my shortlist would be
Alexandra
Louisa
Olivia
Philippa
Sophia
Victoria

fergusthefrog · 11/09/2019 00:08

Louisa, Georgia and Alexandra would all work beautifully

opinionatedfreak · 11/09/2019 00:09

Beatrice seems to be the best flow to me.

Also similarly syllabled and a name that gets used both in its long form and shortened version...so your preference for the long form is likely to be respected.

Of all the Alexandras I know only one gets The full version. The rest all go by Alex.

NameChange30 · 11/09/2019 00:09

I like Georgia too
Not sure why I'm so invested in this thread Blush
I'd like a girl so I'm living vicariously

Urskeks · 11/09/2019 00:12

They're the most of names that you hear with Rebecca and Victoria. You don't want to mix a unique name into the mix.

MikeyTheMouse · 11/09/2019 00:13

Victoria

Astronica · 11/09/2019 01:09

I like the idea of Philippa, Julia and Sophia with your family. I don't think Pippa is inevitable for Philippa, but sometimes you have to work on retaining the full name ie always writing it, always introducing as the full name, and correcting those who shorten it.

Lydia
Marion
Miriam
Anthea
Frances

Victoria came immediately to mind.
I did know a Victoria who was called "Tori" and another called "Tor"
As do I. I also know one who uses Ria as a nn.

Otherwise:

Alexandra
Camilla
Georgina
Henrietta (Hetty)
Helena
Imogen
Maria
Philippa
Sophia
Suzanne/ Susannah

AhNowTed · 11/09/2019 02:16

Mary is a much under-used classic and lovely name.

I can just see a little toddler Mary, teenage Mary and later adult Mary.

Today it's different. Strong and simple.

It's fabulous. Love it.

Rachelle11 · 11/09/2019 02:31

Georgiana

YobaOljazUwaque · 11/09/2019 04:53

The name that popped into my head when I read the thread title is

Genevieve

But other 3 syllable names would work too. I like

Sophia
Caroline
Matilda

Don't go for a simple 2-syllable name for the youngest - the first two names are classic, elegant, queenly names and the 3rd needs to be likewise.
