I have some Scandinavian background, but the surname is English. I wonder if we should go with Henrik or Finn? Which would you choose?

Are you Finnish Grin?

In which case Henrik!

Namaste6 · 05/09/2019 22:54

Finn - hands down.

Hellokitty134 · 05/09/2019 22:56

A Finn from Finland Grin

I much prefer Henrik! Gorgeous name.

Astronica · 05/09/2019 23:35

I love both names but would choose Henrik as it is much less used and more distinctive while still being straightforward and recognisable.

DramaAlpaca · 06/09/2019 00:06

Well, I'd choose Finn, but it's up to you. Choose the one you like best.

AProblemHasOccured · 06/09/2019 00:22

Henrik reminds me of Henrik Hansen 😁 (who, as a character, I actually love, by the way!) Finn is so popular and boring! Go with Henrik.

theoriginalmadambee · 06/09/2019 00:31

Scandi here 👋. You probably know this, but here (dk) both names are considered old fashioned, something a 50-60 year old man would be called.
If your ds won't be spending much time in Scandinavia it doesn't matter, but otherwise.

Good luck choosing Smile.

Henrik.

AverageMummy · 06/09/2019 05:19

Finn is lovely but Henrik is nice too

daisypond · 06/09/2019 07:47

Henrik.

whatausername · 06/09/2019 07:49

Henrik!

Flowerspowersy · 06/09/2019 07:59

Henrik is much nicer and more interesting!

Finn is boring imo.

MashedSpud · 06/09/2019 08:01

Finn.

Finn

NameChangeNugget · 06/09/2019 08:02

Henrik

diddlediddle · 06/09/2019 08:16

Henrik is very very cool. I would have had it in our list if I had even a passing association with Scandinavia. Finn is pleasant but popular.

devilishlygood · 06/09/2019 08:21

Finn is a bit samey....here it’s so popular. Along with all the variants.

Henrik is a bit like Henry which is also boringly popular.

Both names are a bit old-man-ly, and there are so many beautiful boys names from the Scandi-sphere you could choose that are less popular but definitely recognisable in the UK

MissHenty · 06/09/2019 09:17

I prefer Finn

I’m surprised to hear people say it’s so popular, it’s actually only number 76 in the top 100 boys’ names so nowhere near top 10

simbobs · 06/09/2019 09:21

Finn, Henrik will keep being called Henry, and to me that is still an old man's name.

FAQs · 06/09/2019 09:22

Henrik sounds good, it’ll be shortened to Rik though which isn’t as nice.

shoobidoos · 06/09/2019 09:23

That's because you need to include not only Finn but also Finley, Finlay, Finnian, Findlay, Finnlee etc!

TheVoiceInTheShed · 06/09/2019 09:26

Henrik !

EssentialHummus · 06/09/2019 09:31

Either is lovely, assuming you’re not from you-know-where Wink.

Morgan12 · 06/09/2019 09:33

Where do you live?

shoobidoos · 06/09/2019 10:00

I prefer Henrik.

But if you're from Finland then definitely not Finn!
