He'd be a brother for Dexter. What do you think? DP and I love this name, with Bo as a nn.

Interested to hear the general consensus!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MrBobLobLaw · 02/09/2019 19:47

That's why I was surprised so many people knew of 3 or 4 Bodhis @MissHenty .. I feel like on this thread alone we've heard of at least 20% of the nationwide Bodhi population!

I agree that it's a name that might date a bit but
I suppose that's the same as the hundreds of Evie/Eva/Ava/Adas I've met (all lovely names may I add!). I think the names that will be v of this generation will be all the old man names like Albert etc.

I know a Boe (girl) Bodie (boy) Bodhi (boy) and two Brodie’s (girls). It’s not that unusual. Definitely used by those who are totally run of the mill trying to evoke a surfer/ free spirit vibe. It’s fine. Nothing wrong with that.

ILikeyourHairyHands · 02/09/2019 20:12

As long aa your surname isn't Doyle you should be fine.

MissHenty · 02/09/2019 20:52

@MrBobLobLaw yes it does sound like the world is overrun by Bodhi’s! But the numbers speak for themselves. For what it’s worth I have a 4 year old and I’ve never met a Bodhi at any playgroup or nursery (and we’ve been to a lot). I do know a friend of a friend has a Bodhi. That’s it. I live in South of England

riotlady · 02/09/2019 21:01

I’d also think of Point Break

TheYeaSayer · 02/09/2019 21:05

I love it. No more DC for me, but Bodhi would be on my fantasy name list for a boy.

IsobelRae23 · 05/09/2019 22:58

I know 3 Bodhi’s and I really don’t like it. PP mentioned Bogey, yep that’s what the one gets called in school, kids are cruel.

How about:-
Avery, Atticus, Aubrey, Baxter, Carter, Cassius, Cash, Caii, Ethan, Evan, Eden, Evander, Fabian, Felix, Fletcher, Finley, Forest, Gideon, Grayson, Gulliver, Horacio, Hunter, Harley, Hudson, Huxley, Ignatius, Jude, Jasper, Kyle, Levi, Leon, Lester, Lennon, Lux, Maximilian, Maximus, Marshall, Nate, Nathaniel, Quentin, Rufus, Reid, Rae, Reign, Regan, Storm, Silas, Samon, Seth, Saul, Sean, Tobias, Tate, Tegan, Wren, Xavier, Xander

Jellycat00 · 06/09/2019 04:38

I know two little girls called Bodhi!

Alicewond · 06/09/2019 04:40

So body... which it’ll get misspelled his entire life. Is an awful name

StroppyWoman · 06/09/2019 05:00

Absolutely awful.
Sorry, OP.
It was perfect for a fictional surfer dude to name himself because he fancied himself a spiritual and deep, and hung out with a guy called War Child.
Pretty good for a dog, if the Buddhist connection doesn’t feel disrespectful to you.
Really awful for an actual human being.
(And a lifetime of having his name misspelled or mispronounced)

MissHenty · 06/09/2019 09:11

But it won’t be a lifetime of having your name misspelled and mispronunciations- there are about 400 babies being named Bodhi every year now

When we were little there will have been zero so yes it would have been different 20-30 years ago

december20100 · 18/10/2019 15:11

not quite sure on this one, very odd

Youresocool87 · 18/10/2019 17:01

My son is called Bodhi and we get so many compliments on it. It was the only name we both agreed on for a boy and am so glad we stuck with it. Go for it, it's a lovely name x

MissHenty · 18/10/2019 17:02

Bo is a cool nickname too

Moominfan · 18/10/2019 17:03

I know a bodhi and he's lovely. Think it's a very cutesy name but one a child can grow into
