He'd be a brother for Dexter. What do you think? DP and I love this name, with Bo as a nn.

Interested to hear the general consensus!

I know a 10 year old Bohdi. Not my taste at all, sounds daft.

AverageMummy · 01/09/2019 21:01

I don’t like it at all sorry

Peachbubble · 01/09/2019 21:05

I know one aged 8 - he doesn't get called Bogey!

iknowimcoming · 01/09/2019 21:06

Not trying to be rude but it makes me think of the period pants modibodi - sorry. Maybe spelling it Bodie makes it easier to know how it's pronounced also I quite like Brodie

GoFiguire · 01/09/2019 21:07

I’m sure he’ll make a great surfer .

AreWeAnywhereNear · 01/09/2019 21:07

My youngest DS had a Bodhi in his class, Bodhi was quite frankly horrendously behaved whilst his mother looked on adoringly.

I did quite like the name initially as it's unusual. Unfortunately DS's mate has ruined it for me.

However if you like it, go for it Smile

Elieza · 01/09/2019 21:10

I like the name a lot now I know how to pronounce it, but the spelling made me initially say it as Body.
As in Elle MacPherson The Body (the supermodel in the 90s, apologies if I got her name wrong lol)

Disfordarkchocolate · 01/09/2019 21:11

I think of Bode Miller (skier), I like the sound of it but prefer Bode.

wtftodo · 01/09/2019 21:13

There’s a 6yr old Bodhi near us (london) - she’s a girl

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 01/09/2019 21:17

I’ve heard of a Brodie. Probably best to avoid (Ian Brodie). I thought Bodie (and Doyle) too but then I was a child of the 70s.

LittleSweet · 01/09/2019 21:19

I thought bogey too. Sad

LaMarschallin · 01/09/2019 21:20

Have you considered Sinister to go with Dexter?

HamWater · 01/09/2019 21:24

I like it. I've met two Bodhis under 2 this year.

Junobug · 01/09/2019 21:29

I have a Bodhi so I'm a bit biased. We loved it with ds1 but I was worried about the marmite reaction and then still loved it by dc3 so went for it. People struggle to pronounce and spell it. I'm sure the receptionist at the doctors purposefully can't pronounce, spell or find his name on the system but I don't care, I love it and it suits him.
I also think likening it to 'Ramadan ' is ridiculous. Not being Buddhist has nothing to do with it. It's a name that has Buddhist origin. All names come from somewhere. It's like saying you can't use Jacob if you're not Christian.

Junobug · 01/09/2019 21:31

Also, my dd would have been Dexter if she was a boy. We obviously have very similar taste in names.

cookieandtea · 01/09/2019 21:46

Very of the moment name. I know two, one spelt Bodhi and one spelt Bodie, think it will grow a lot in popularly the next few years... especially in London and Home Counties.

If you love it go for it! Bo is also a cute nn.

missmouse101 · 01/09/2019 21:47

It looks awful written down, like you say 'Body.'

CloudsCanLookLikeSheep · 01/09/2019 21:51

I quite like it. Patrick Swayze in Point Break was hot!

IveGotAlpen · 01/09/2019 21:52

I have a Bodhi so am biased but have nothing but people saying what a lovely well suited name it is for my little one :)

MadeForThis · 01/09/2019 21:52

Made me think of the film Point Break too. Like the name.

LolaSmiles · 01/09/2019 21:53

I really like it, and it's not normally the sort of name i would go for.

rainbowlou · 01/09/2019 22:00

I really like it!I know 3 bodhi’s under the age of 6 (2 boys and 1 girl)

Sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav · 01/09/2019 22:08

Just makes me think of the actress Megan fox, she has a son with that name, first time I'd heard it

MrBobLobLaw · 01/09/2019 22:09

See I think Bodie seems more like 'body' rather than Bodhi but I'm probably biased! Really don't like Brodie though. DP had a friend called Bode (bod-ay) growing up and wondered if people would mispronounce Bodhi that way.

Haven't seen the Swayze movie either Blush

Glad to see some Bodhi mums on here who have had a good reaction and interesting that you have had people struggle to spell and pronounce it @Junobug I wanna know what your other DC are called since you clearly have great taste.

Funnily enough lots of people said Dexter would probably get more popular but it dropped in the charts this year quite a few places. I've only met 2 other Dexter's.

We also both like Rafael and I like Ellis too (DP is less keen I think)

Thanks for all the replies by the way, interesting to read everyone's view on it. Lots more of you like it than I expected to be honest!
