timetochangeagainforever · 01/09/2019 15:52

My DS name is Dexter - also a surname, as is his sister's. ex is Canadian too so it worked. (DD is not very common but think two English sister authors) but I wanted Pearl, Dulcie or Finty (Dame Judy Dench daughter's name) if he was a girl. My children are now grown and they love their individual names ( although Ive heard of a few younger than mine have followed my lead as there's a couple of each now where I live).
I have an unusual name too - name of mum's (she is 73) school pen friend from Holland. I did want my kids to have unique names but not 'non-names'. So nice that I can get personalised stuff for my kids for my children now, courtesy of www. but I didn't like having an unusual name when I was growing up as I could never get a pen, badge, rubber (eraser),
whatever with my name on! Glad mine can now!

timetochangeagainforever · 01/09/2019 15:54

My friends granddaughter is Delilah and I love it!

timetochangeagainforever · 01/09/2019 16:06

Also, you need to think about the pronoun ciation from teenagers and regional accents as my DD ame has hard 'T' in her name but some of her friends don't bother pronouncing it properly. It drives me mad! I never preempted that one. Think Betty pronounced as Be-he. Makes me skin crawl! I Wish patents would expect their children to pronounce names correctly but I've learned that this doesn't always happen.

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 02/09/2019 05:56

The last three babies I have known to be born have all been Sylvie. I think it's going to get very popular. Also I think it's very middle aged.
