Primrose with Rose as a nn

MorvaanReed · 28/08/2019 18:56

I once knew an awesome Amaryllis.

I like Golda and Dorothy. Dorothy Golda as first and middle especially.

brittlestar · 28/08/2019 18:59

Tabitha, Hermione, I love Sybil too!

dollybird · 28/08/2019 19:07

I love Marguerite! My old boss's daughter is called that and it so suits her. They also have Ingrid which I like too. Wish I'd been a bit more adventurous with our DC'S names (although DD tends to be the only one in her year, but her name's not remotely unusual/uncommon)

TheJoxter · 28/08/2019 19:08

I love Hepzibah, wish I was brave enough to use it

Out of your list I’d probably use Ada or Rosa

How about Molly, Martha, Alba, Ida

MillicentMartha · 28/08/2019 19:19

Or Marguerite, nickname Maggie?

DoraNora · 28/08/2019 19:26

LOVE Hepzibah.

Lots of great nicknames - Hepzi, Eppie, apparently Effie is also a diminutive.

My other favourite names include:

Celeste
Alma
Tabitha
Hermione

Peaseblossom22 · 28/08/2019 19:27

Hebe
Fleur
Rohaise

NaToth · 28/08/2019 19:29

Surely it's Hephzibah?

RebeccaRae · 28/08/2019 19:32

Hepzibah is a shocker 😂

I really like Dorothy, Sylvie and Cicely. I also like Maggie, but it's a nickname - I would christen her Margaret or Marguerite.

If you're concerned about the name being too popular I would steer well clear of Ivy. Every other baby girl I've encountered since about 2015 has been called Ivy.

MillicentMartha · 28/08/2019 19:33

Both spellings are used apparently but I’ve only ever seen Hepzibah pronounced with a p sound.

kenandbarbie · 28/08/2019 19:36

Emmeline

kenandbarbie · 28/08/2019 19:37

Elinor

DoraNora · 28/08/2019 19:38

Both are pronounced the same, both are correct (although Hephzibah is how it is spelled in the bible and also in Silas Marner).

I will say give an extremely 'normal' middle name if you go that route ... Also accept that it's not everyone's cup of tea and that a surprising number of people think you've named your child 'Pepsi' Wink

WellTidy · 28/08/2019 19:39

Arabella - nn Bella
Clemantine/Clematis- nn Clemmie
Magda nn Maggie
Elizabeth nn Libby

WellTidy · 28/08/2019 19:40
