Girl's name challenge

lifesnotaspectatorsport · 22/08/2019 19:24

I've found so many fab names on these threads, hoping someone can help me find the right name for my first daughter. The challenge:

  • Has to be fairly unusual (her brother's name is very rare but an old English name)
  • No flower names
  • No feminine versions of male names eg Philippa, Erica etc
  • Nothing too girly (like Posy or Belle)
  • Middle name will be Genevieve
  • Surname begins with L, 3 syllables. So combined with the long middle name, it needs to be fairly short.

Suggestions please! Grin

Elowen just sounds like letters it's not very pretty to me. Pearl is a great name PP!

The name sounds like spelling out something.
Do not like it .

Sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav · 01/09/2019 17:03

Not fan personally but doesn't matter what we think. I like Philippa genevieve or Esther genevieve both of which have cute nicknames and I think they fit in with your two daughters names

Modestandatinybitsexy · 02/09/2019 12:46

I liked it but I does sound a bit like someone's got the middle of the alphabet mixed up...

AbcdefghijkLONmpqrstuvwxyz

CocoLoco87 · 03/09/2019 15:29

What about Éowyn?

lifesnotaspectatorsport · 03/09/2019 18:07

@CocoLoco87 I love Eowyn but isn't it just from Lord of the Rings?

Apparently so! I've never read or watched it Blush but I'm reliably informed she was a nice character?

No Elowen I really don’t like, but I love unusual names

Willa is a lovely name

So is Vivienne (I wouldn’t worry about whether that goes with middle name or not, it’ll hardly ever get used anyway, I only found out my husbands middle name after 2 years of dating and have no idea what any of my school friends’ middle names were)

MissHenty · 04/09/2019 17:09

Elowen’s nickname, whether you like it or not will be “Elo” (“Hello”) Ello ello ello

No don’t pick that name, find something else unusual instead

NeverSayFreelance · 04/09/2019 17:13

I've just recently developed a liking for the name Eilonwy - similar to Elowen?

Or perhaps Elyon? That was a character in my favourite cartoon as a child and I've always liked it.

lifesnotaspectatorsport · 05/09/2019 10:48

@ABitOTT Yay, someone likes at least one of my name choices 😂

Meredith

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 05/09/2019 16:31

Demelza? Came to mind as it's another old Cornish name like Elowen. I think it sounds great with Genevieve too...

lifesnotaspectatorsport · 06/09/2019 09:31

I like Demelza but always makes me think of the character in Poldark. Meredith similarly of Grey's Anatomy.

Love Freya but it's just too popular. Lilith was on our list for ages till I googled the baby-snatching demon aspect Shock

At the moment we have Elowen, Elinor, Livia & Ismae as possibles.
