Girl's name challenge

lifesnotaspectatorsport · 22/08/2019 19:24

I've found so many fab names on these threads, hoping someone can help me find the right name for my first daughter. The challenge:

  • Has to be fairly unusual (her brother's name is very rare but an old English name)
  • No flower names
  • No feminine versions of male names eg Philippa, Erica etc
  • Nothing too girly (like Posy or Belle)
  • Middle name will be Genevieve
  • Surname begins with L, 3 syllables. So combined with the long middle name, it needs to be fairly short.

Suggestions please! Grin

About Elsa.
Now sat here with "Do you wanna build a snowman" going through my head.
Maybe not such a good suggestion after all.

Hmm. Only Ismay/Ismae has made it onto the list so far. I think all the Ruth/ Mary/ Zara/ Cora etc are not unusual enough for us. Prefer nothing in the top 500 names at least. But thanks for the suggestions! It's really helpful 😊

well if you are thinking about connotations - Ismay was the last name of the managing director of the white star line who was on board the Titanic sank ( he survived it but came in for criticism) I realise this is stretching a point but some who know or have seen the film may make the association.

I think Zoe , Stella , Daphne are lovely but maybe not unusual enough for you - I am hazarding a guess at old English name for a boy might be Piers ? So something on similar lines?

Isla ? Inga ? Hero ? ( all mentioned by others. ) I also think Vita could do a cracking job or Celia ?

Tuppence ? Grin

Oh all best whatever you choose

Modestandatinybitsexy · 24/08/2019 07:10

Can you let us in on your boys name to give an idea of style.

Not sure if any of these have been mentioned but how about

Aphra
Annis
Bess
Dana/Danu
Godiva
Mab or Mabel
Marion
Robin
Willow

Good luck finding a name. I had the same issue with a second boy's name but we ended up with a girl so it was easy in the end.

CatteStreet · 24/08/2019 07:11

Isn't Ismay a variant of Esme, which is not at all unusual?
