Hi all, just wondered if you think Brooke is a bit dated? Other names I like are

Xanthe
Cicely
Lila
Fiorella
Amelie
Ianthe

To be dated a name had to have once been popular and I don’t think Brooke has ever been in the top 100, so In answer to you question. No I don’t think it’s is dated.

It is lovely name.
I also quite like Cecily.

I don't find it dated at all but it's seems very popular in my area my compared to the other names in your list (3 in my 5 year olds year at school ) if that matters to you.

Brooke is in the same camp as Paige and Madison to me, which feel very different to the rest of the names on your list.

I really like it. I actually think Amelie is more dated! Seemed to be what everyone was calling their little girls 10 years ago.

It was quite popular in the US in the 90s which may be why it feels a bit dated. I agree that it is an incongruous name in your list, which is otherwise quite classical.

And funnily enough Brooke is my favourite of your suggestions! I like Fiorella too.

I prefer Cecily to Cicely - what about Cecelia/cecilia?

Cicely is lovely but Cecily is not, it's just Cecil-y. Cicily is a misspelling.
Brooke is dated.

Brook seems a more modern spelling. Fits with the nature names trend.

Xanthe and Lila are nice too. Others not so much.

NameChange- they're both Cicely. Cissy is sweet, Cessy is a bit sewagey.
The plant is Sweet Cicely.
The name means Blind.

Ah I see, the OP wrote Cicily. I thought you were saying Cicely was a misspelling!
I prefer Cecily and dislike the nickname Cissy (reminds me of the insult sissy). Also dislike Cessy but have never heard that unfortunate nickname until now!

I think Cecily sounds a bit classier than Cicely. To my ear it sounds like someone stammering to say the word silly. Horses for courses and all that!

II think Brooke is lovely and very under used, which is a positive.

Amelie is also lovely. I don't like the others on your list, I'm sorry. But yes, Brooke is lovely and the fact it's not common is in its favour. I don't think it's dated because it's never been common.

Name - the two examples you gave were Cicely. OP didn't misspell it.
Others will though and poor little DD will have a lifetime of correcting people. I think the Cecily spelling is from Cecilia.
The origin is the same.
