Rameses?

I'm not pregnant, but with all of the bonkers names popping up recently why hasn't Rameses reared it's head?

I've seen a Blade, a Benz and a King pop up recently, but no sign of a Rameses which is clearly far superior. Anyone want to shotgun it?

Or Herod. No Herod fans? Sad

It’s a bit much IMO and I like unusual names

Wishihad · 09/08/2019 20:50

Ra isnt really a worshipped god anymore. Maybe that's why?

Fairylea · 09/08/2019 20:50

Tutankhamen might be a good un. Smile

KateUrrer · 09/08/2019 20:51

It has potential.

OtraCosaMariposa · 09/08/2019 20:52

Because the obvious shortening would be "Rammy" which in Scotland means a disturbance, fight, people causing bother.

Or just because it's a ridiculous name.

HeyMonkey · 09/08/2019 20:55

I play Ra in sentinels of the multiverse, hence it coming up.

I had two cats called Ramses and Nefertari. It's a no from me 🤣

KateUrrer · 09/08/2019 20:56

No good having a Ned in Scotland either.

HeyMonkey · 09/08/2019 21:07

@KateUrrer Aw, little baby Thug.

It’s a great name for a potential pharaoh.
Bit much for an ordinary baby.

And as for Herod - anyone considering Herod needs to read up about his role in the nativity. The massacre of the innocents association puts me right off.

Shu.
Poor kid wouldn't know if he was coming or going when he gets called in from the garden.

HeyMonkey · 09/08/2019 21:27

I might hang on to Rameses for my next cat come to think of it.

I've always loves the name Ramses!

Frith2013 · 09/08/2019 22:19

The incest and early death would put me off.

MashedSpud · 09/08/2019 22:21

Rammy meant filthy or dirty (unclean) when I was growing up in Cheshire.

Wishihad · 09/08/2019 22:34

The incest and early death would put me off.

Ramese the great/the second lived about 2 to 3 times longer than the average age. Its one of the reasons believed he was a god.

SperanzaWilde · 09/08/2019 22:35

Makes a nice change from all the little Ptolemys running around.

HeyMonkey · 09/08/2019 22:53

How do you even pronounce Ptolemy?

OP posts:
SperanzaWilde · 09/08/2019 23:00

The ‘P’ is silent.

PestoCaffeinisto · 09/08/2019 23:05

Rameses Revenge is a well-known ride at Chessington. I wouldn’t want my child to be named after that.

PestoCaffeinisto · 09/08/2019 23:08

Also sounds like a tummy bug

TheVanguardSix · 09/08/2019 23:09

I hear this name being said in Peter Griffin's voice, OP.

TheVanguardSix · 09/08/2019 23:10

Benz.

I'm lost for words.

SemperIdem · 10/08/2019 00:23

I’ve wondered why ancient Egyptians names haven’t found a footing in the “old/classical names” trend. Ancient Greek and Roman names have.
