Yes, don't call this one Lauren or Holly. Something different a good plan

Don't go for "different" though - you'll mark the poor lad for life at school if you call him Jarooney or something.

moondog · 31/07/2007 22:18

Jiminy
Jehosaphat

dazzlincaz · 31/07/2007 22:20

Jeanne.

It's french but although I know how to pronounce it I just can't explain how in words!!

mummyto2littleprincess · 31/07/2007 22:22

oh sorry i thought you said dont call it that lol sorry

OP posts:
hunkermunker · 31/07/2007 22:24

I did say don't call it that.

Because you already have children called that.

Not because they're awful names - they're not!

But I think a more traditional name would both sound nicer with Lauren and Holly and be a better thing for your son to grow up with. Lauren, Holly and Jack is nice. Lauren, Holly and Jarooney (or similar) is shite, imo.

pooka · 31/07/2007 22:25

from Sunday Times on names for babies

Though this was really interesting.

Hate to sound like a prude, but I really think that different isn't necessarily best when it comes to names. There are thousands to choose from, and a name used before doesn't have to be boring.

I'm personally not keen on several of the more traditional names in the article, and prefer the much more commonly-found names I chose for dd and ds.

pooka · 31/07/2007 22:28

I know no Laurens and no Hollies, so while they're not far out names, they're in no way common or boring. Like them both. Know 5 Olivias, and like the name despite that.

Think that HM right - a more trad name might fit better with the sister's names.

hunkermunker · 31/07/2007 22:30

I do the play, love, promote test with names.

Can X come out to play?

I love you, X.

Let's promote X.

KalunaLoveGood · 31/07/2007 22:36

Lauren and Holly sound like Christmas names (lauren / laurel) maybe Ivy or Jasmine to keep the theme

pooka · 31/07/2007 22:36

Never done that before HM. Interesting.

dd is Lucy and ds is Tom. Neither sound quite right to me in the "promotion" bit. Love and play, yes. Career, alas no.
Damnit - the die are cast. We'll be supporting them for EVER
