Would you tell a family member that the name they are picking is ridiculous ?

I feel like it's not my place but at the same time I feel sorry for my future niece. One of my sister had a gender reveal party and announced the baby's name. They were so excited but the name is proper ridiculous. Is it my place to say something ?

I wouldn’t have used the word ridiculous though, I would hope you’d be slightly more tactful, perhaps suggest they think about ramifications at school

Chicolatedaim he did - I was thinking of the lyrics to Jeepster:

Just like a car
You're pleasing to behold
I'll call you Jaguar if I may be so bold
Cos you're my baby
Yes, you're my love

Showing my age a bit...

I've heard far worse & it would definitely grow on me, especially with a pretty middle name such as Rose.

The NN will be awful though Confused Jag, Jaggy🤢

Not my cup of tea but as it is not an offensive word I wouldn't say anything. Anyway their second choice could be worse! Shiraz-Martini or Tyegar-Lillleee

Not my taste but loads of kids have unique names these days.
Was it meant to be a bit like ‘Tiger-Lily’?

Almost 13 years after the furore of DS’ name, it’s had just two overtly negative reactions. One from from a guy who wasted very well at the time and the other was from a bloke who is very conservative and, well, racist. This is a bloke who gets angry about flat leaf parsley, ffs!

Everyone else who had doubts during the pregnancy was quite polite about it and as soon as he was here, that was his name. His name means “man from the city” and he his nickname is the first syllable with an “s” added. No kid has ever said a thing, apart from thinking that it’s cool.

If they go ahead, OP, then my guess is that you’ll just get used to it.
