Opinions?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
littlebitstressed · 09/07/2019 21:54

Love it!!! Might even use it myself.

MustardScreams · 09/07/2019 21:54

No. Very... living in a caravan in the Deep South.

Goldenhorn · 09/07/2019 21:55

I don't personally like it but I cant think of anything that's actually wrong with it if that makes sense

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 09/07/2019 21:55

No.

TurquoiseAndPurple · 09/07/2019 21:56

I love it 😊❤️

GissASquizz · 09/07/2019 21:57

Vauxhall

BornInAThunderstorm · 09/07/2019 21:58

Yeah I was thinking Vauxhall too but a new generation wouldn’t notice

MrsMoastyToasty · 09/07/2019 22:00

"No va" means "it/she/he doesn't go" in Spanish. So that's probably why it's a no from me.

It's also a model of a car by vauxhall

OhEliza · 09/07/2019 22:00

I was thinking 'Scotia'.

Not a fan.

MeganChips · 09/07/2019 22:01

I like it. I went to school with a girl called Nova in the 80s and she was very cool and stylish!

Mrsbclinton · 09/07/2019 22:01

Champagne super nova is the first thing I thought of.....

EmpressLesbianInChair · 09/07/2019 22:01

Champagne Supernova would be one phenomenal name.

But that’s a generational thing too.

littlebitstressed · 09/07/2019 22:02

In Latin it means new. I speak Spanish but I’ve never read it as “not going” for some reason.

Fatkins · 09/07/2019 22:03

I also thought 'scotia', then "isn't it the name of a car as well?", then champagne supernova caravan / oasis song.

None of these are TERRIBLE associations though.

It's not my cup of tea, but I'm sure I'd quickly get used to it if I met one.

mrslaurenbrown · 09/07/2019 22:10

I wouldn't have it personally but I do like it. Especially if you're after something more unique. It works very well for a child I'm not sure how it would grow with them into adulthood.

jonesy22 · 09/07/2019 22:10

No

MamaFlintstone · 09/07/2019 22:11

Vauxhall.

When I had DD 20 months ago the hospital midwives told me Nova was the “in” name that year when I asked what unusual names they’d heard recently.

NuffingChora · 09/07/2019 22:14

Love it 👍🏻 - unusual but not outrageous, associations are fine. Put it this way, I have a very ‘mumsnet popular’ traditional first name and I’ve had way more grief for things it rhymes with/words it makes when you add letters to it (being deliberately vague here as I don’t name change much..) than I think you’d ever imagine, and no one ever mentions any of them when my name comes up on these boards.

DramaAlpaca · 09/07/2019 22:15

Exactly what MrsToastyMoasty said ^^

Jiggles101 · 09/07/2019 22:16

Love it

Jiggles101 · 09/07/2019 22:17

Just don't like that it shortens to No

CourageCamille · 09/07/2019 22:23

There was an actress in the 30s called Nova Pilbeam. Bit of glamour there.

Nova
Joeybee · 10/07/2019 01:29

LOVE this name. It just sounds so fresh. It's a great mix of being feminine but strong sounding and it means 'new' which is a fantastic meaning for a baby.
Personally being in Australia, I wouldn't use it because there's a radio station and cinema chain here called Nova!

Champy87 · 10/07/2019 07:31

Holly Valance (of neighbours and a brief singing career fame) and Nick Candy have a daughter called Nova. I’m not sure if they are a well known enough couple to influence name trends but thought I’d mention all the same.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 10/07/2019 07:57

Nova Candy?
