I would guess working class and a little bit pretentious, sorry.

Stayawayfromitsmouth · 29/06/2019 09:58

You're borrowers? Grin
Just kidding.

Whackaguacamole · 29/06/2019 10:03

That gender differences are highlighted in your family, e.g.strong boys and pretty girls

Babynameseek · 29/06/2019 10:04

@Stayawayfromitsmouth I might like the names a little bit more now Grin

@bridgetreilly why pretentious?

underthebridgedowntown · 29/06/2019 10:05

I would guess you have Spanish roots

Babynameseek · 29/06/2019 10:07

@Whackaguacamole ooh that's interesting (considering how much time DS spends in his princess dress). I guess i do favour frilly girls names, but i def wouldn't want that to influence how they perceive our expectations of them

I get such a strong image from the girls names! They make me think the mum would be a very "girly" type - I expect she'd have pink nails and perfectly dyed/styled hair, and she wouldn't be seen without make up. She's a sweet woman - her name is something like Carly - and she refers to the girls as "my little princesses" and dresses them in matching outfits.

The girls would be sweet but a bit precious - like they'd be the kind of little girls who don't like to paint or play outside because they hate getting dirty. They don't like little boys either.

The house would be a new build, everything inside would be different shades of grey/lots of crushed velvet/'live love laugh' plaques on the walls, and really tidy. They're not pet people.

Dad has a good salary from a manual job like a plumber or electrician - mum is a TA in the kids school but also has a side business - maybe Avon or something similar. Or maybe she owns a small business - some kind of salon. They holiday at the same place in Spain or Turkey each year.

I get such a strong image from the girls names that I can't picture little Xavier and he's sort of not really in the family I have created! If the family I imagined had a son, I'd expect him to be called Freddie/Reggie/Ronnie - on of the East End gangster baby names which are back in fashion recently.

Lavenderbluess · 29/06/2019 11:13

That you have one boy and two girls!

Honestly can't say more.

Babynameseek · 29/06/2019 11:14

Wow that's certainly clear literally although ithink I'd be somewhat of a disappointment with my bitten nails, natural hair in a mum bun and having only worn makeup three times in my life. I feel like I need to try harder like Carly lol. And my chaotic house full of photos and mismatch wishes it was as tidy as Carlys.

God know what names would suit my twins lol

Oohh thats the thread I should do. This is my life, name my kids

Ooh I love the name Xavier! I'd think Lilyana and Ariella had been short-changed as those names aren't as nice. I'd continue the strong/unusual theme - Zelda, Hermione, Vivienne, Athena, Juno. Something along those lines.

TurquoiseAndPurple · 29/06/2019 11:39

Doesn't tell me anything about your family. Because I don't judge/read people by their names Hmm

Babynameseek · 29/06/2019 12:18

Maybe you don't turquoise but 5 mins on Baby Names shows lots of people get a preconception of what someone is like by their name.

The girls’ names scream ‘dance moms’ to me

Poppkitty90 · 29/06/2019 13:48

Though saying that, I think they’re nice! I prefer Liliana because Lilyana looks a bit clunky

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 29/06/2019 14:17

Upper Middle class.
Live in a rural village.
Close knit and small community.
All the children go to the same very small school.
The Teacher taught you as a child, too.
You're a SAHM.
You do a lot for your community.
Your DH works in property.
Your girls are bossy but lovable. Get on most of the time but when they fight they fight. Ariella is sporty. Lilyanna is very frilly and girly.
Xavier is quiet but mixes in well with people.

bridgetreilly · 29/06/2019 14:33

Pretentious because they all strike me as names where you are trying for them to be unique and special. None of them are standard English names.

Babynameseek · 29/06/2019 17:26

Fair enough Bridge. Although of course they're unique and special, aren't all kids? Do people pick Sophie and go, I'll choose it cos my kid is destined to be ordinary and I'd hate her to think she's special in any way??

But don't most parents try hard to find a lovely name for their child? A name that sounds good with their surname and that isn't used too frequently? Don't we all went our kids to feel special and have a name that easily identified them?

Why would that be 'pretentious' Confused?

Justus22 · 29/06/2019 21:12

Xavier makes me think very British, middle class, privately educated, the girls names make me think European or very young parents (I say this but I too have a Spanish and Greek name at the top of my list and I'm british and 34 😂). Honestly though I only privately judge names of people I don't know, I think the name becomes the child once you know them and your idea of the name comes from them, stereotypes disappear when you know someone with the name. Xx

SleepingStandingUp · 29/06/2019 21:13

@Grufallosfriends nope, on MN the working class are supposed to pick names that won't stand out on the name badge for their supermarket job. Nothing that suggests knowledge of culture etc as clearly their parents will have just copied it from someone posh. Nothing above their station.

MerryMarigold · 29/06/2019 21:22

I like Lilyana (prefer Liliana) and Ariella INDIVIDUALLY but for some reason they're too fussy together. (I can see where PP was going with Carly Grin ). I knew a Liliana with sister Olivia. They work better together I think.

Babynameseek · 29/06/2019 21:25

I wish I was as cool as Carly lol

OP posts:
MerryMarigold · 29/06/2019 21:25

Is Lilyana going to be pronounced Lily-anna or Lily-arna? She will need to be prepared to be called both ways for the rest of her life, even by teachers and bosses who should know better (ie. How you've asked for it to be pronounced).

MerryMarigold · 29/06/2019 21:28

No, Carly has no lawn only AstroTurf (yes, I do judge fake lawn) and is a bit fake. Don't be Carly!

You sound more of a Sienna, Cecily, Marisa type person.

SleepingStandingUp · 29/06/2019 21:31

@MerryMarigold arna. Hoping the one n will help but yes accept it is one of those names.

Ooh Merry i don't think I'm up to be a Marissa or Sienna.

Working class sahm with a complex child, never wears make up, wears leggings and dresses cos I'm fat. Love ballet, opera, theatre and reading. What should MY name be and what should I name the twins lol
