Nah

Napqueen1234 · 28/06/2019 19:35

I don’t want to be mean but it’s a ridiculous name please don’t call your poor baby Tudor

AverageMummy · 28/06/2019 19:36

Awful sorry
What about Torben?

Winterfellismyhome · 28/06/2019 19:37

He'll be bullied when he learns about Tudors at school

Mummy1224 · 28/06/2019 19:37

Not keen I’m afraid, I think it sounds a little pretentious. Sorry Sad

Baritriwsahys · 28/06/2019 19:38

Henry?

Yogagirl123 · 28/06/2019 19:38

I like it, but my DH, didn’t like it either!

MikeUniformMike · 28/06/2019 19:38

It's ok. Not unheard of in Wales. The welsh form, Tudur (TIDD-irr), is slightly more popular with the welsh.

Greensleeves · 28/06/2019 19:38

Love it.

SirVixofVixHall · 28/06/2019 19:40

Yes, Tudur is fairly common in Wales, so it sounds like a normal name to me.

MrsTerryPratchett · 28/06/2019 19:40

Thank your DH, he's right.

Fatkins · 28/06/2019 19:43

I think it was a first name to begin with. Wasn't he Owen ap Tudor or something? Grandad of Henry (I think).

But if you're in England, I probably wouldn't as the Tudors aren't the nicest figures in British history. And very few people in England will think anything but "Henry" when they hear it.

Fatkins · 28/06/2019 19:45

Owain ap Maredudd ap Tudur. Owen Tudor is the anglicised version I think.

Birdie6 · 28/06/2019 19:48

I've got an uncle Tudor - I've always loved the name.

Fatkins · 28/06/2019 19:48

Sorry, so I think that means son of. Son of Maredudd, son of Tudur. That wasn't very clear.

I'll stop rambling now and await any corrections Grin.

SimonJT · 28/06/2019 19:50

I think it’s a lovely name (but then I would be biased) it’s fairly common in easter europe.

EmrysAtticus · 28/06/2019 19:52

It's not to my taste but a perfectly normal name here in Wales :)

YouJustDoYou · 28/06/2019 19:53

Bully magnet.

MollyHuaCha · 28/06/2019 19:57

Ridiculous name.

nsldriver · 28/06/2019 20:01

We don't live far from wales so maybe we can get away with it.

ap does mean son of.
Many welsh surnames start with B or P indicating 'son of'.
Examples include Parry, Pugh, Bowen and Bevan.
Tudor is also a welsh surname, as is Lloyd.

MikeUniformMike · 28/06/2019 20:04

Parry is from ap Harri, Pugh from ap Huw...

Ladymargarethall · 28/06/2019 20:05

Two of my children were taught by a Tudor Welshsurname. If you are in Wales or have a Welsh surname probably fine. Otherwise maybe not.

CatSmize · 28/06/2019 20:32

Love it.

Perch · 28/06/2019 20:34

No please don’t poor child. Toren?
