Thanks to everyone for their help on my other thread, still mulling over options!

I'm down to:
Mikhail (Misha)
Constantin
Anton

And just missing out from the shortlist are: Stefan, Artyom and Fyodor (Freddie). We live in the UK so name needs to be pronounceable, spell-able, etc!

What do you think?

@ThumbWitchesAbroad That's a good point, like the actress Mischa Barton... But I have a unisex name often used for men, in fairness, and it's fine. I don't think it's a big concern in the UK.

Mikhail because I love Misha (I don't think of it as a girl's name at all - I'm in the UK).

Anton just makes me think of du Beke. With Constantin I wonder if you'd have people assume an "e" was missing and I just don't love virtue names in general - what if your son is very fickle?

hanahsaunt · 26/06/2019 16:33

Fyodor would really irritate me because to my British ear it ought to be TH so sounds like sloppy speech.

I adore Constantin.

MarshaBradyo · 26/06/2019 16:33

I was pronouncing Stefan your way in my mind

Still love Misha - I wouldn’t think a girl

IThrewItOnTheGround · 26/06/2019 16:37

It only seems to be a thing for English speakers that names ending in "a" are feminine - hence all the female Nikitas you hear about. I don't think it's a problem re Misha, since it will only be a nn and not his "official" name.

behindlocknumbernine · 26/06/2019 16:49

I don't like Anton. For reasons I cannot put my finger on.
Mikhael is nice. I'm possibly swayed by the fact my first proper boyfriend was German, his name was Michael and his nn was Misha. He was a nice chap!
Stefan is ok. But in my mind it is a German name. And a rather over-popular German name at that....
Now, Constantin. I LOVE this. Beautiful, strong, rolls of the tongue nicely. Love it!. Different but not too 'out there'.

Cookit · 26/06/2019 17:01

Anton just makes me think of du Beke.

Me too.

AverageMummy · 26/06/2019 17:09

Mikhael or Stefan

steppemum · 26/06/2019 17:10

I think Artyom and Fyodor don't work well in UK, look clumsy to write. I know how to pronounce them, but don't think it is obvious to non Russian speakers.
Anton I like, but it isn't as nice as other, and feels like it could be French/Italian

Mikhail is great and love Misha - both very adaptable to UK and yet retain their Russian feel.
Constantin /Koz also good for same reasons

both excellent names

Stefan I like a lot, but would assume German.

so, if you want it to sound Russian, go for Mikhail

madeyemoodysmum · 26/06/2019 18:17

I love mikhal.

Poppkitty90 · 26/06/2019 18:18

Love Constantin

LookingGlassMilk · 26/06/2019 19:28

Out of those three I would pick Mikhail, Misha is a lovely nickname.

If I could pick any Russian boys name I would pick Vasili.

IThrewItOnTheGround · 26/06/2019 19:50

I'd probably go for Georgy! I like the diminutive Dima too, so working backwards from that, it would have to be Dmitri or Vladimir.

MonstranceClock · 26/06/2019 19:54

Misha for sure!

SnowdropFox · 26/06/2019 19:59

Another vote for Mikhail. Reminds me of the actor Misha Collins who has Russian ancestry.

Lisette1940 · 26/06/2019 20:01

Love Constantin. New a visiting researcher to my University called Constantin - lovely guy.

TheFallenMadonna · 26/06/2019 20:04

Constantin is a great name.

FraterculaArctica · 26/06/2019 20:06

Constantin.

Mokepon · 26/06/2019 20:08

I was really hoping Ilya would be there, I love that name.

CatsLikeCoffeeToo · 26/06/2019 20:19

I like all of your top three - I would avoid Stefan from a pronunciation point of view, and also Fyodor as I suspect it will get horribly mangled and mis transliterated. I would be prepared to take that risk with Artyom though Smile

Lisette1940 · 26/06/2019 20:22

Sorry that should be knew Blush

raspberrycordial · 26/06/2019 20:36

Just throwing in my opinion. Love constantin (like the others too) but pasha would also be a contender for me

diddlediddle · 26/06/2019 20:39

Mikhail by a mile. Lovely sound, lovely nickname. Constantin and Antin seem much harsher

Sophronia · 27/06/2019 08:55

Mikhail

IThrewItOnTheGround · 27/06/2019 09:58

I think Pasha is a diminutive of Pavel and not a proper name in its own right. And Pavel always makes me think of pavlova for some reason.
