Which Ros- name? (Rosaline, Rosalie etc)

Dh and I have decided on either Rosaline, Rosalie and Rosalind but are unsure on which one as both of us seem to change our minds between them each day. I think my favourite is Rosaline but I don’t know if that’s just because I’m imagining Leonardo di’caprio saying it that’ll probably change tomorrow

We’re also planning on using Rosie as a nickname and neither are a fan of Roz, do you think Roz is inevitable?

I think eventually kids have nicknames you hate irrespective of the name you chose so I wouldn’t really worry about it

I think Rosalind is very classy & Rosalie very pretty

LucyFox · 15/06/2019 19:31

I really like Rosalind but any name that has a Roz pronunciation is likely to be shortened to that at some point
What about Roseanna? Rosanna? That would shorten to Rosie really nicely!
Rosalie can be pronounced ROZ-a-Lee or ROSE-a-Lee so that could work too.

Entschuldigung · 15/06/2019 19:31

Rosalind

peachgreen · 15/06/2019 19:32

If you like Rosie rather than Roz than definitely go for Rosalie.

SometimesItRains · 15/06/2019 19:34

I think if you don’t like Roz you might want to pick a different name as she is bound to be known as Roz at some point. Having said that I love Rosalie - it was on my list if DS2 was a girl - and I like Rosalind too.

BlueMerchant · 15/06/2019 19:37

Rosalie

ScreamingValenta · 15/06/2019 19:37

Rosamund is my favourite.

doxxed not a fan of Rose and I’m not sure I guess we’d just like her to have a longer name and a nickname to choose from and find all the ros- names lovely

Just to add another into the mix - I really like Rosamund.

AnaChocolatte · 15/06/2019 19:49

Rosalind is v nice - it has a timeless and classy feel.

I don't really like Rosaline - it seems a bit fortune teller to me. Rosalie is pretty but quite cutesy which is not my style but nice enough.

ToftheB · 15/06/2019 19:51

I love Rosaind, after Rosalind Franklin, a brilliant and under recognised female chemist who was involved in the discovery of the structure of DNA. My husband won't let me use it, sadly.

Peachbubble · 15/06/2019 19:52

I prefer Rosalie

IggyAce · 15/06/2019 19:53

Rosalie, I suggested this for dc2 but dh vetoed it. Don’t try and choose a nn once they start school one develops naturally. Whether you like it is another matter, I say this as dd is Imogen we used Immy until she started school and told us she didn’t like it, friends call her Idgy.

PointlessUsername · 15/06/2019 19:53

Rosalieis my fave of the three - it's a pretty name.

user1496959500 · 15/06/2019 19:54

I love Rosa - FYI though the Rosanna I know is a Rosie and she’s never called Rox.

IWannaSeeHowItEnds · 15/06/2019 19:55

I'm slinging Rosina into the mix.

Greggers2017 · 15/06/2019 19:58

My DSD is Rosalie, pronounced rose a lee. She was Rosie but is now preferring rose as she is growing up.

Slinkenconken · 15/06/2019 20:06

Rosalie was on my list.

CoodleMoodle · 15/06/2019 20:06

My DD's full name is Rosie. If I'd had to pick a longer version then I would've gone for Rosalie, but Rosaline and Rosalind are both lovely as well though.

SaintAlice · 15/06/2019 20:11

Rosa?
Rosamund?
Rosetta?

Banhaha · 15/06/2019 20:15

Rosalyn?

The ones you've chosen will probably be shortened to Ros

If you want Rose or Ro as a nickname I'd choose Rosie or Rosanna or Rosanne.

Banhaha · 15/06/2019 20:17

Rossalyn with 2 s but would be shortened to Ros I imagine

bridgetreilly · 15/06/2019 21:06

Rosalind. Can be Rosie if that's what you prefer, or Ros if that's what she prefers as she gets older.
