Can you think of any nicknames?

Well I think it's just too synonymous with the TV show. Everyone will thing of the actual show Frasier...even though the spelling's different.

Nicknames...people will call him Frase.

I'm not a fan of surnames as names.

Divgirl2 · 11/06/2019 11:20

Good Scottish name. I know lots (no babies, all men - none of them dickheads). None of them really have nicknames unless it's their surname.

fairybeagle · 11/06/2019 12:32

Thanks, his brother has a classic Scottish name (his dad is Scottish) and I like the idea of both of them having similar. I just thought of it today and liked it but thought it sounded maybe a little harsh/hard..

I like it very much. I don't think it sounds harsh.

BabloHoney · 11/06/2019 13:56

It's fabulous! Love Scottish boys names.

wigglybeezer · 11/06/2019 14:02

Quite common where I live, in a small, posh, Scottish town. It tends to get shortened to Fraz, in that unoriginal way that teenage boys shorten names to expend a fraction less energy shouting to each other.

BikeRunSki · 11/06/2019 14:05

I love it, but would spell it will a z. I know 1, he’s English, 40ish and his nickname is not an abbreviation of his first name.

happyhillock · 11/06/2019 14:05

I like it.

Prettyvacant2003 · 11/06/2019 14:05

I like it!

tdam · 11/06/2019 14:36

I know a Fraser and have always liked the name. He gets Frase, like the word 'phrase', and I think Fray and Ray could work too.

Tonightstheteriyakichicken · 11/06/2019 15:07

Love the name, can't think of any nn in particular.

AshQ · 11/06/2019 16:07

I like it. The Frasers I know go by Fraz.

Shadow1234 · 11/06/2019 17:48

Love it.

MsMarvellous · 11/06/2019 18:29

There's a Fraser in my daughter's school and I love the name. He's also a really nice kid too

pictish · 11/06/2019 18:30

My brother’s name. He’s a dick but it’s a nice name. Grin

Fivefootoffun · 11/06/2019 18:43

I love Fraser. We live in Scotland although I’m Irish. The only thing I would say is that a lot of non Scots might think of it more as Frazer - ie American. I know my friends back home do anyway.

Penny4Thoughts · 11/06/2019 19:52

It’s hard rather than harsh - so I do know what you mean but it’s still nice.

What about Ray?

Gran22 · 11/06/2019 23:24

I went to school in Scotland many years ago with a boy called Fraser. I like the name.

IHaveBrilloHair · 11/06/2019 23:27

Lovely name, I know a great Fraser.

Tillygetsit · 11/06/2019 23:30

My ds has a school friend called Fraser. His nn is Frazzle! Hes a really great kid so I love it.

Skyrain · 11/06/2019 23:31

I agree it is a lovely name. I would have used it but have a surname beginning with F so didn’t sound right. I don’t think it sounds harsh at all.

Fulltimemummy85 · 12/06/2019 06:12

Very cute, I know one he's lovely, no nn

BettyUnderswoob · 12/06/2019 09:09

I knew a few Frasers growing up (in Scotland). It’s a good, solid name which I sort of like, but the Frasers I knew were all real cheeky chappies.
And generally shortened to Fraz rather than Frase.

Owlbert · 12/06/2019 16:13

I know of a few ranging from about 8-16 all lovely boys, most of them go by Fraser itself or Frase

pictish · 12/06/2019 17:03

My brother’s nn at school and amongst his friends was Fritz. I was sometimes called Mini Fritz.
I don’t think he’s gone by Fritz for a long time though.
