Do you like it? Does anyone know a Hero? I love it but it does feel like quite a bold choice!

Sorry but don't like. Sounds too contrived to me.

How about Hera, Herta, or Hebe?

Winterfellismyhome · 10/06/2019 11:15

Jessica Alba has a daughter called Hero

Divgirl2 · 10/06/2019 11:17

I dislike it. Too masculine (and contrived).

Flicketyflack · 10/06/2019 11:19

I know a dog called Hero sorry Sad

mogtheexcellent · 10/06/2019 11:20

Anything shakespearian is a yes in my mind. Prefer beatrice as a character though.Wink

NameChangedNoImagination · 10/06/2019 11:20

I know of someone with this name and she absolutely hates it.

mogtheexcellent · 10/06/2019 11:20

For those unaware Hero is a girl character in Much Ado About Nothing

AuntieStella · 10/06/2019 11:21

I really like it.

It's been a female name since the times of the Greek myths, so I've never seen it as a masculine type

But I expect that in an English-speaking country there will be a bit of an interference pattern from the vocabulary word, but it shouldnMt be worst than say Mark or Nick or Joy or Grace etc

LittleKitty1985 · 10/06/2019 11:24

I like it Smile

ladycarlotta · 10/06/2019 11:25

I love it. It's not contrived, it's a proper girl's name and has been for thousands of years.

Zoeputthatdown · 10/06/2019 11:35

One of Myleene Klass's DDs is called Hero.

(And yes, Beatrice's goody cousin from "Much Ado About Nothing").

If you like it why not, or, as a middle name.

SundayMorningSun · 10/06/2019 11:40

Very cool and Shakespearean, but I wonder how wearable it is day to day, if you see what I mean?

SundayMorningSun · 10/06/2019 11:41

The character has a bit of a tough time of it too, if I remember rightly.

Rainbowbrite11 · 10/06/2019 11:41

I absolutely love it 😊

maimainomai · 10/06/2019 11:59

It's really nice!!

I love girl's names that end in o. Juno, Margot, Clio/Cleo, Isabeau, Hero.... I wish DH didn't hate them.

Antonin · 10/06/2019 12:16

Bold for some, perhaps, but in today’s naming climate not too different.
I like it . If you feel it’s a bit too far why not Horatia nn Hero or as someone else posted, Hera.

Eleanor90 · 10/06/2019 12:16

I love the name Hero but also far prefer Beatrice as a character @mogtheexcellent. Hero is a bit of a wet fish IIRC.

Rarely ever comment on name threads as it is what you like..but IMO its very masculine. I would hate as a 30 year old woman to be called Hero..
Would you like it as your name?

MollyHuaCha · 10/06/2019 12:37

It's a nice name, but I think she'll have a lifetime of silly comments along the lines of 'Oh thanks for the cup of tea, you're a real hero...'.

sanityisamyth · 10/06/2019 12:38

Ridiculous

Penny4Thoughts · 10/06/2019 12:42

You could use it as a nickname to give her more choice when older
Hero could be for Hermione

Aus84 · 10/06/2019 12:54

Would you, as a grown woman, be happy to introduce yourself as 'Hero'? In a job interview? To your children's friends parents? What about during role call on your first day of high school? That's the first question I asked myself when naming my children.

Elmo303 · 10/06/2019 12:56

Absolutely love it. But I wouldn’t be brave enough to use it, which seems silly really

Aus84 · 10/06/2019 12:57

It's been a female name since the times of the Greek myths, so I've never seen it as a masculine type

I thought Hero was a Greek Mythology boys name. Hera is the girls name.
