Hello!

Whats your Vote for Maisy or Maizy?

Also, would you spell with a 'y' or 'ie'?

DH likes Maisy, I like Maizie. Are either very popular? Smile

Maisie, no z and no y.

Popular around here but not terribly so.

MoreSlidingDoors · 08/06/2019 13:03

Maisie.

hmsvictory · 08/06/2019 13:04

It's Maisie. Maizy is beyond weird

NannyR · 08/06/2019 13:07

I like Maisie best. Maisy reminds me of the maisy mouse books and maizy looks too much like maize, the crop. I think spelling it with a z will be setting her up for a life of misspellings.

MoreSlidingDoors · 08/06/2019 13:11

Maizy looks like an adjective to me. “This pudding is way too maize-y.”

DoLittleDoLoads · 08/06/2019 13:11

Agree - Maisie. Otherwise she'll spend her life correcting other people's spelling of her name.

MustardScreams · 08/06/2019 13:12

Maisie.

Maizy is basically manic your kid after corn.

MustardScreams · 08/06/2019 13:12

Naming wtf autocorrect?

homemadegin · 08/06/2019 13:12

Maisie

freshstartnewme · 08/06/2019 13:12

Not with a Z.

There is a hotel chain called 'SleeperZ' I always think the name was made up by a couple of 13 year olds.

It's not cool to use a Z: not cool.

MarinaMarinara · 08/06/2019 13:13

Maisie. Or at a push Maisy. Most definitely not with a z...

allofthechocolateraisins · 08/06/2019 13:14

Ok great - Thanks Everyone! Looks like I'm outvoted but definitely for the best I guess! And the pronunciation for Maisie is May-See instead of May-Zee, right?

Why would you want to spell a perfectly nice normal name in such a bizarre way? The poor girl will
go through life constantly having to explain that no, it’s not a typo, her parents just wanted to be ‘different’

Shadow1234 · 08/06/2019 13:16

I prefer Maisy with a 'y' - although I believe 'Maisie' seems to be the general spelling these days.
Do not like it with a 'z'

freshstartnewme · 08/06/2019 13:16

MaySee ?

No.

wonderpants · 08/06/2019 13:16

Maisie- May-Zee
Macy- May- Cee

DontCallMeShitley · 08/06/2019 13:16

Nope, Maisie is pronounced Mayzee. Otherwise you have Macy which is another thing altogether.

NannyR · 08/06/2019 13:18

I pronounce Maisie with a soft z sound, I would go for macie/macey if you want the may-see pronunciation.

NameChangedNoImagination · 08/06/2019 13:18

Pronunciation is still may-zee. I'd prefer Maisy

homemadegin · 08/06/2019 13:19

May zay

May zee

Depending on accent. As others have said never may say which is macey

Redhanger · 08/06/2019 13:19

I don’t like the isi in Maisie so we went with y :)

Everyone spells it Maisie though so probably go with that.

allofthechocolateraisins · 08/06/2019 13:21

@Constance1234 No, not trying to be 'different' - Maizie was my Grandmas name hence why it is my initial choice, Maybe it's a United States and United Kingdom thing too! But now we live in the UK would never want to set her up for a life of correction spelling.

BuffaloCauliflower · 08/06/2019 13:22

It’s Maisie pronounced May-zee. That’s the only correct spelling and pronunciation

VenusOfWillendorf · 08/06/2019 13:23

Maisie, no Z or Y.

I would pronounce it as Maze-E.
May-see is the pronunciation for Macy, I think, though quite possibly these are the same name!
We have a Maisie in the family and call her Maze-E. Lovely name 😀

Usuallyinthemiddle · 08/06/2019 13:24

Maisie quite popular here. Other two look like mis- spellings.

There are a couple or three Maisie's in our primary.
