What does everyone think of Taryn for a girl? We have a Chloe so no idea if it goes or if it's actually nice? Thanks!

Beautiful name. Biased as a close relative has it but have always loved it!

SnowyAlpsandPeaks · 31/05/2019 14:56

I like it, I also used to work with one and she was lovely, so I guess that helps lol. I think they go well together.

Canone · 31/05/2019 14:57

Unusual and pretty. Where is it from?

Hairyheadphones · 31/05/2019 14:59

I don’t think it works with Chloe at all.

hatsnscarf · 31/05/2019 15:00

Really like it.

peg90 · 31/05/2019 15:03

One of my friends suggested it and she's Welsh so could possibly be. I've not googled or anything yet, but it's the only name I've thought "oooh" about.

I really like it. It's a name I've considered as well. I'm not sure if it "goes" with Chloe but I don't think that's a bad thing. I don't particularly think mine and my siblings names go together but they work as they are our names if you see what I mean.

SimulationTheorist · 31/05/2019 15:11

It's Welsh and means "Thunder". There are many dogs in my breed called Taryn for that reason. I'm Welsh, live in Wales and work with children, and I've never come across a human called Taryn - I think it would be mocked tbh.

If you're not in Wales, possibly use it, if you don't mind the meaning.

peg90 · 31/05/2019 15:11

That's it, I don't think anything goes with Chloe but that could just be because it's only ever been her. It'll go if it's put I suppose Grin

@simulationtheorist ooh that's for that, you've put me right off saying it's a dog's name Confused We're in Scotland so not heard of anyone up here with it (dog or human).

I teach a lovely Taryn, so on that basis would say go for it!

MikeUniformMike · 31/05/2019 15:17

It's not a Welsh name. It's a Welsh film star's name. A male film star.
It is also a girl's name in the US.
It isn't the welsh for thunder, that's Taran.

SimulationTheorist · 31/05/2019 15:18

It's derived from Tarrant - to thunder and Taran - thunder Confused

Google it. Plenty of sources.

mogtheexcellent · 31/05/2019 15:24

Tyrone power's daughter was called Taryn. Always loved it.

Milicentbystander72 · 31/05/2019 15:52

I agree with @stimulationtheorist - I'm from Wales and have never ever heard anyone called this.

taylorlynn · 31/05/2019 15:57

I'm not keen on it tbh and don't think it goes with Chloe. Some people like names not to go but if you do it's a no Smile

MikeUniformMike · 31/05/2019 16:01

Taryn Egerton. He's from Wales but was born in Liverpool. I think he has a welsh grandmother or something.
Tarrant is more lively to mean torrent or flood. River names are often similar and I'd say Tarrant and Trent might have similar meanings. Neither river are in Wales.

Milicentbystander72 · 31/05/2019 16:02

Do you like Tanwen? - I've definitely known a few in my time, its means shining, or literally white fire.

MikeUniformMike · 31/05/2019 16:02

is not are

Milicentbystander72 · 31/05/2019 16:03

Its Taron Egerton isn't it?

MikeUniformMike · 31/05/2019 16:10

Probably.

userabcname · 31/05/2019 16:36

Like a lot!

Snipples · 31/05/2019 16:39

I really like it. Although I did think boy name when I saw it at first. But it's lush.

Nicasia · 31/05/2019 16:41

I like it.

There is a female character named Taryn in Holly Black's The Folk of the Air book series.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 31/05/2019 16:42

Love it.
I'm pretty sure one of the actresses in Orange is the new black is a Taryn?
