What does everyone think of Taryn for a girl? We have a Chloe so no idea if it goes or if it's actually nice? Thanks!

Know a female Taryn and taught a male Taryn too. Neither were/are teased for it and both live in Wales. I like it.

Girl in my DS's class called Taryn. Lovely name. I live in Wales and I never heard a dog called it and it would certainly not be mockedHmm

Can't believe I didn't click with Taron Edgerton! Can't imagine my other half will agree to that. Would definitely be Taryn though rather than Taron. So nice to hear of all the Taryn's you know.

It's a beautiful name op

BumandChips · 31/05/2019 18:38

It’s nice, I met a girl called Taryn a few years ago.

Proseccofuelled · 31/05/2019 18:39

Awful

aliceelizaloves · 31/05/2019 21:41

I teach a girl called it and also went to school with a boy called it. I really like it.

ZebraKid71 · 31/05/2019 22:20

I know two lovely girls named taryn, both in their late teens. Lived in Wales for years and never met one there though...

BeckyAnnLeeman · 31/05/2019 23:38

I like it. The one I know is American.

BeckyAnnLeeman · 31/05/2019 23:40

Tanwen mentioned by a pp is also gorgeous. Never heard that name before!

I much prefer this style of Welsh name, they sound wild and unbridled, to the Fflur type names.

BeckyAnnLeeman · 31/05/2019 23:41

Not that I'm dissing Fflur Grin

Tavannach · 31/05/2019 23:41

I thought the Welsh boy's name was Toran.

Bouncingbelle · 01/06/2019 01:22

I really really like it! Strong but pretty. Goes well with Chloe.

mondler · 01/06/2019 05:41

I like it. I know one in her early twenties who lives in South of England. She often has to repeat it a few times though and often gets Karen.

KatherineJaneway · 01/06/2019 06:01

I heard of the name Taryn from the singer Taryn Murphy who sang Make It Go Away from the film Wisegirls. I like it.

Malyshek · 01/06/2019 09:44

I like it. Not British, never heard it, but like it.

OP, don't let people saying it's a dog's name deter you. I'm sure someone somewhere has a dog called Julian or Alfred, doesn't mean the name isn't perfectly fine.

There's also Aeryn that I like.

Sophronia · 01/06/2019 09:50

I think it’s not uncommon in the US. It was more popular in the 80s though so sounds a bit dated to me.

manicinsomniac · 02/06/2019 03:57

I really like it.

I know one Taryn, aged 8. Her sister has a very popular name but spelled a more unusual, Scottish way. I don't know if the family has Scottish or Welsh links or not.
