What do you think of the name Lincoln? I love it but family and friends are not keen. Would like to know what other people think of the name.

I'm not a big fan...sorry OP. it makes me think of Abraham Lincon and it sounds like a surname to me x

Estellastar · 28/05/2019 18:27

Too surname-y to me. Very American style not just because of the president!

tiramisu1 · 28/05/2019 18:33

Yes, why not?

starzig · 28/05/2019 18:58

Reminds me of prison break.

Jacksback · 28/05/2019 19:00

Will get shortened to Lin
Lincoln is nice bit doubt he will get the full name

DramaAlpaca · 28/05/2019 19:00

I like it. I'm not normally that keen on surnamey first names, but I like Lincoln.

It reminds me of Prison Break too.

babysharkah · 28/05/2019 19:01

I know a little Lincoln, it's ok but I don't love it. He's always Lincoln, never Lin.

Dljlr · 28/05/2019 19:02

A flat county where my mother resides.

Matildatoldsuchdreadfullies · 28/05/2019 19:02

I thought Prison Break, too - Linc the sink.

But by the time your ds starts school, I rather think PB will be an unimportant footnote in tv history. And I actually quite like the sound of Lincoln.

Saucery · 28/05/2019 19:03

I like it, as long as your surname isn’t Green.

Happilyacceptingcookies · 28/05/2019 19:07

Sorry, don't like it.

alislim · 28/05/2019 19:22

I'm not keen x

SnowyAlpsandPeaks · 28/05/2019 19:23

Reminds me of Teen Mom, I’m sure I wasn’t reading on line and a story popped up about one of the mums and that was her son’s name.

tiramisu1 · 28/05/2019 22:24

I know a 10 year old Lincoln. I like it. He's always Lincoln, it's easy to say.

Shadow1234 · 29/05/2019 00:54

Love it. I know a little 2 year old called Lincoln.

Chocmallows · 29/05/2019 00:59

My DS used to know a Lincoln. Rude and nasty, but I don't mind the name.

Proseccofuelled · 29/05/2019 01:09

Hate it sorry

TheShoeLady · 29/05/2019 01:12

My cat is named Lincoln (after Prison Break - other one was going to be Schofield but as we were collecting them we were told they’d made a mistake and she was actually a girl!)

His name is shortened to Link (DS is a big Legend of Zelda fan) which I think is pretty cool for a boy, feline or human!

Lincoln is also a lovely place, so I’d be happy with the connotations, other than PB Grin

NorthernRunner · 29/05/2019 08:20

No I’m not a fan

Would you consider Lorcan?

Abouttime1978 · 29/05/2019 10:08

I have a Lincoln so I'm biased!

He gets called Lincs mostly.

lucymegan · 29/05/2019 12:25

I like it.

nuttynutjob · 29/05/2019 12:27

It's like Years and Years

Citytwin · 29/05/2019 12:28

No, but I’m not keen on place names as first names. It’s the name of a city to me.

Clubbercised · 29/05/2019 13:51

I am not a fan. It makes me think of the town, sausages and the surname of a dead president. At least he was a good president!

I do know of one. I also have heard of a child called Jefferson, which I also think is a dead president's surname...?

Wonder if anyone will think to name their DC Bush or Trump in years to come! Probably not actually...

CassianAndor · 29/05/2019 13:52

I think it works as a name very well.

One of DD's favourite authors is called Lincoln (author of Big Nate), so I'be become used to seeing it.
