Boring or timeless

I love the names Hannah & Lucy but am aware they’ve been very popular for a very long time. Would this stop you using them?

I also like Rose & Rosa which feel a little more current in comparison.

If you’d avoid names that have been popular forever, what else do you think I’d like?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
OhhMyLittleGirls · 27/05/2019 18:58

I love Lucy (although I prefer Lucie for some reason).
Hannah is lovely but I know 3 who are all teenagers! Rose and Rosa are also lovely.
Would you like the name Alice?
Its so classic and timeless, it seems to fit with your criteria/names you like...
I have an Alice and we get complimented on her name all the time!

Bouncingbelle · 28/05/2019 00:03

Lucy is lovely, as are Rose & Rosa. Hannah is nice enough but a little but dated to me.
Other suggestions in a similar vein:
Helena
Louise
Victoria
Verity

Bouncingbelle · 28/05/2019 00:04

Oops just seen Verity is a no. Juliet?

LarkDescending · 28/05/2019 08:07

Rose and Rosa are lovely. You might also like Rosanna?

Or perhaps Catherine, Joanna, Mary?

PotatoCity · 28/05/2019 08:57

They are both nice names, not hugely dated or extraordinarily beautiful but perfectly nice! Rose as a first name is nice too but every girl born in the last 4 years seems to have Rose as a middle name so I would find that a very uninspired choice.

Evanna13 · 28/05/2019 09:05

I love all of your name choices equally. It's very hard to choose between them.
What do you think of Rosanna or Rosalyn?

pineapplebryanbrown · 28/05/2019 09:19

I agree about Rose. I think it's beautiful but being overused as a middle name atm.

Clubbercised · 28/05/2019 09:37

I absolutely love Rosanna!

I don't find Rose at all uninspired as a first name. I only know one! I know more Rosas and a couple of Rosalies.

It is definitely overused as a middle name* though. I get why. Baby girls all seem to suit it!

*See also May and Grace.

Clubbercised · 28/05/2019 09:40

There used to be loads of Rosies too, but think it's died out a bit.

taylorlynn · 28/05/2019 10:39

I think they are quite boring - there were a lot of these names when I was at school ten year ago.

Marinkazurie · 28/05/2019 10:41

Love Hannah.

locketsprocket · 28/05/2019 10:47

I have a lucy and I really don't understand when people say it's so popular she's the only one in her school and I know 1 in her late teens and 2 that are 40

But then again I have a Amelia and she was the only one in her school and now at a very large secondary (1000 pupils) she's still one of only 5

tajalaa · 28/05/2019 11:05

Boring in my honest opinion. Lucy is very dated as PP said lots of these when I was at school years ago. Hannah is OK but quite plain

Teddybearhunter · 28/05/2019 11:15

@bouncingbelle I really love Juliet - it’s not one I’d thought of - thanks!

@locketsprocket DD1 is Emily - the most popular girls name from 2000-2010... yet she's the only one I know (& to think I vetoed Chloe because it was too popular Grin)

10000thusername · 28/05/2019 18:50

My friend is due this year and she's calling her Lucy!x

PetraRabbit · 29/05/2019 21:08

Hannah and Lucy seem quite 1980s but I think they would just sound classic these days. Another name of that era you might like is Zoe? Or Katy?

I love Rosa - it's simple but pretty. I have a young child and haven't come across one. Rose is nice too but please only as a first name. It's very cliched as a middle name. I like Rosa much more than Rosalie or Rosanna.

TatianaLarina · 29/05/2019 21:13

Rosa is a classic.

hellooosweetheart · 29/05/2019 22:02

Dd1 has a classic middle name dd2 has both a classic first and middle name.

tresbe · 29/05/2019 23:16

Rosa is beautiful and timeless.

Hannah is very dull and would say Lucy is a bit wet

Bouncingbelle · 29/05/2019 23:26

@Teddynearhunter happy to help! :)
