Great for a city, okay for a dog, really don't like it for a person.

redhotchill · 16/05/2019 17:27

Draws Wink

LolaSmiles · 16/05/2019 17:29

It sounds like it's a lovely name for a pet to me, specifically a dog.

Chocolateisoverrated · 16/05/2019 17:29

Chester makes me imagine a ginger cat

OldAndWornOut · 16/05/2019 17:31

Honestly, and not wanting to offend, I think its absolutely awful.
Chester drawers springs to mind.

Ebrill · 16/05/2019 17:32

I love it, makes me think of Chester Bennington who has always been my favourite musician despite his untimely death. Hmm decisions. It just sounds right to me.

churchthecat · 16/05/2019 17:33

I love it, and I loved Chester Bennington.

Ebrill · 16/05/2019 17:34

@churchthecat Perhaps it's just us linkin park fans that don't hate it! Grin

Dangerous territory if you're in the UK.
'WASP'y surnames (Preston, Carter, McKenzie, Jackson etc) used as first names is a trend which seems to have migrated from the States for both boys and girls.
Most people I know (and indeed a sizeable chunk of Mumsnetters on here too) seem to be split into 2 camps of loving or hating it.

MikeUniformMike · 16/05/2019 17:51

Awful sorry. Nice city though.

BlueMerchant · 16/05/2019 17:54

I don't like it. Chester drawers. Chestnut. I just don't like it.

EssentialHummus · 16/05/2019 17:56

I had a pet Boxer called Chester. I’d think you were American.

Proseccofuelled · 16/05/2019 18:10

Some celebrities have used it - possibly Holly Willoughby?
I don’t think it’s awful - it would make an awesome nickname for Christopher

noitsachicken · 16/05/2019 18:13

Chest of drawers not Chester Drawers/draws

MrsBertBibby · 16/05/2019 18:14

Chester the molester, our school ski trip instructor.

It's an appalling name.

Ebrill · 16/05/2019 18:24

Well if I can read this much negativity and still love it then it might just be the one. Sorry all! Thanks though.

Calixtine · 16/05/2019 19:08

I quite like it actually. I like the “preppy” thing. Chet for short?

IVflytrap · 16/05/2019 19:14

Prefer Kester.

Lew1993 · 16/05/2019 19:20

I really like it.. (also a linkin park fan!)

CupOhTea · 16/05/2019 19:36

I know of one! He must be 5 now.

I think it might be a bit 'marmite'. It's not my cup of tea tbh.

Ebrill · 16/05/2019 21:15

Very mixed opinions then!

Isntthatalwaystheway · 16/05/2019 21:25

Love it, Fab name!

ShakeYourTailFeathers · 16/05/2019 21:26

My cat's called Chester

MaLittleBubbas · 16/05/2019 21:35

not a lot of people seem to like it but I’ve always loved it, its actually one of my favourite boy names although dh has vetoed if we ever have a boy :(

HeronLanyon · 16/05/2019 21:38

Hmmm very American where it is popular. Uk far less so. I have only ever known a cat with this name (lovely boy) so I am struggling to think of it as a persons name.
