Zelda - how 'out there'?

DH and I apparently do not agree on any girl names. I mean ANY. Apart from maybe this one. My only doubts are that it's a bit too off-the-wall. I want to avoid anything top ten/massively popular - but not to the extent of everyone who hears it thinking "you're called what now?!"

I guess I'm less interested in people's opinions (it's always a question of taste, and I definitely LIKE it) than how weird you think it is ( if it's at all possible to distinguish those two things).

So where would you place it on a scale of 1 (Emily/Olivia/simple/classic/boring) to 10 (Hepzibah/Andromeda/unusual/mad)?

what about Anaïs, Isolde, Simone, Mina, something of that ilk?
DH doesn't like Anais, I don't like Isolde, neither of us like Simone. We both love Mina but it sounds too similar to the first part of our surname. Believe me, if it's a girl's name we have considered it!

Love it, it was a real name long before the games, but the games are so good that if anything it adds to its kudos. I definately would.

I'm clearly the same age as the other Terrahawks posters. She scared the living daylights out of me.

I like it but it’s definitely closer to Andromeda than Olivia to me. Still, it’s short, simple, familiar and unambiguous in terms of spelling and pronunciation. If the gaming and Terrahawks connections don’t bother you, I think it’s fine to use.

I like Zelda, I think because it makes me think of Zelda Fitzgerald (F Scott Fitzgerald's wife) and the rotating twenties. I would be a little nervous to use it though, for the same reason as you. On your scale I suppose I'd place it around 6-7? I don't necessarily think that's a bad thing though...

I would never think gamer. I know a teenager called Zelda and she's absolutely lovely. One of the loveliest kids I know. I don't think it's a particularly out there name.

It’s the name of the neuro surgeon that saved dh’s life when I was pg with dc2. Thankfully I had a boy.

I immediately think of Fitzgerald and 1920s. I wouldn't have known the gaming connection. I think it's usable - and hard to rate on your scale - maybe a 5 as it's definitely not boring or over-used, but doesn't seem real weird to me either.
