So, here it is, the fourth(!!!) Guessing Game baby names thread. Shock

All credit to @scotstar for creating the game, back in March 2018. Can't believe how far we've come!

Previous threads here:

1: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/baby_names/3189874-guessing-game

2: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/baby_names/3207745-Guessing-game-II

3: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/baby_names/3262724-Guessing-game-III?pg=1â„´=

The game is simple. Guess the name the poster is describing, then it's your turn! Make the clues as fiendish as you like. Grin

All are welcome to join in! @FintyTin, @Ladywillpower, @LadyGAgain and @DuggeeHugs, come join! (Plus others I've forgotten)

@Clettercletterthatsbetter has guessed Clara!

Sorry, not Mary or Delilah either.

She’s in a class of her own when it comes to saving lives.

Not Ada or Marie, sorry. I’ll think of an extra clue, but in the meantime the divisive issue of scones is probably the biggest pointer. If you’re not in the UK that might mean nothing, though, sorry.

Presuming it is the pronunciation of scone rather than whether the jam or cream is applied first!
I am completely stumped.
Elizabeth?

I will confess that I didn't understand the written clue but I assumed Devon v Cornwall?

Tamar?

Report
Ladywillpower · 05/06/2019 08:10

My thinking is Tamar is an old testament female character.
The river Tamar marks the border between Devon & Cornwall.
Tamar is a class of lifeboat & therefore a " lifesaver".
Tamara Rahn is a comic book character.
Not sure about the "proud" clue. Does it relate to Eurovision Finty? (Makes mental note to watch next year).

@Ladywillpower you’ve got it - and you’ve nailed the clues, too!

Well done and over to you Grin...

LadyGAgain put me on the right track as I was convinced it was something to do with how you pronounce scone!
Here goes with the new clue:-
This chap may need to be "restrained" from using a bullying tone. He hails from ancient Turkey & more recently ran a canine boarding establishment.

Hector?

Report
Ladywillpower · 08/06/2019 07:23

Well done LadyGAgain.
One of the meanings of Hector is to restrain.
To "hector" is to use a bullying tone.
Hector was from Troy which was a city in ancient Greece & was mentioned in the Iliad & Troilus & Cressida.
Hector the dog starred in the tv series Hectors House.
Over to you!

Okay. New one...

This 90’s dance hit houses the owner of this name. He is also an African black and white monarch. His musical skills are world renowned, only surpassed by the fame of his father.
